Paint Tomorrow Need suggestion's on Paint color

hotrodhoodlum: that looks like Chrysler's Sunburst Orange. They put it on everything for about a decade and a half. Paint code is PV6, DV6 or V6, depending...My '09 Wrangler X is that color - the only year they ever put it on a Wrangler.

Another vote for Flitz and Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish.

1968 Dart (Sedan with posts) Windshield Gasket

Sorry, don't have a specific part number, but the two-door sedan windshield gasket is the same as the four-door windshield gasket.

    what color?

I like the silver, but the orange would be my second pick. There's no real subtlety with those trucks, so you might as well go full-on... :)

vinyl top bumble strip yes or no

That car looks great without a vinyl top or stripe. Good call.

need opinion on tail stripe (pics)

Agree with Dartnut...Letter or stripe, but probably not both. It always looked like a mistake to me when there were paint/color changes under lettering/badges...

    Front clip question

I'm guessing it won't look right, considering the lines are totally different...If it fits at all. I'd guess the fender-door area would be the biggest hang-up.

    Tip for painting small items

Another related tip: foam earplugs are great for filling holes when you're painting something and don't want to get paint inside the hole. Just make sure you pull them out while the paint is still mostly wet.

vinyl top bumble strip yes or no

Nice. That's a great color; no need to busy up an otherwise-clean car with a vinyl top, tape stripe, etc.

    Truck Bed Liner Spraying?

Undercoating spray gun works well. That's what I used when I did the Herculiner in my old Wrangler's tub.

Believe the Valiant 2dr sedan and 4dr glass will work too.

71 Dart bumperettes ... yay or nay?

No bumperettes. Busies up an otherwise-clean-looking front-/rear-end.

W/S trim, to or not to

Doesn't someone make some black, flexible lock strip that fills in the gap and acts as trim? I swear I saw that on the site somewhere...

69 Valiant grille into 67 dart?

You'll probably have to swap fenders, hood, lower valence and bumper too, plus associated parking/turn lamps/housings.

    Lower radiator support piece...

I wondered if weld-through primer would work, but also wondered how much impurity it would introduce into the welds.

    Lower radiator support piece...

So I managed to obtain a lower radiator core support that was removed by drilling out the spot welds. Nifty. Looking at how much metal overlap there is between the core support and the pieces it's welded to brought up a question. It's probably a simple one for experienced body people, so I...

    Lower radiator support piece...

So, my '67 Valiant has a fairly bashed-up lower radiator support and support-to-k-member brace. is there any place that manufacturers these pieces now? I know badart has his tubular lower radiator support, and I'm considering that in addition to replacing the factory piece, but it would be nice...

    How much does a mostly-stripped A-body weigh?

1.5", 1/8"-wall square tube should work fine for the verticals, right? I either have that or 4"x2", 1/8"-wall, which won't let me bolt to the radiator surround...

    How much does a mostly-stripped A-body weigh?

So I have casters (wttool.com, 600-lb load, swivel, two-axis locking caster, $20 each) and found a hunk of 1/8", 4x2 square-tube in my garage. I also have a hunk of 4", 1/8"-thick flat stock. I'm guessing that's enough to build the bases. I'm probably going to use 2", 1/8" thick angle iron for...

    Need Help/Wisdom!!!!......70 Duster

Like gts340 said, all the front sheetmetal should interchange. I'd be interested in the rear bumper from that '70 Valiant four-door if the rear bumper is straight and clean...

I'm going to stick with my regular "trim busies up a clean car" mantra.

    How much does a mostly-stripped A-body weigh?

So, I'm tearing my '67 Valiant down. Front-end sheetmetal is coming off, interior is out, engine/transmission are out, k-member and axle will be out soon. How much does the mostly-stripped body weigh? I'm asking cause I want to build a set of dollies to bolt to the k-member location and the rear...

Need help decideing what to do with my trim

The less trim, the better. Most trim pieces only busy up the look of a clean car. I never quite got how the upscale body packages were "drill holes in stuff, which lead to rust."

  26. jtolbert

vinyl top bumble strip yes or no

I generally dislike vinyl tops. Hardtops look cleaner. The stripe? It's a Dodge thing...I'm going to vote for the clean-and-lean, no-vinyl-top, no-stripe option. I could see the stripe looking nice, but the vinyl top is definitely not my cup of tea.

Any burnt orange cars out there

Just checked the door and it is PV6: SUNBURST ORANGE PEARL COAT (PV6). I thought it was PV6 from memory but figured I'd better check just in case. It's the same sunburst orange Chrysler has been putting on stuff for years. They replaced it with a more coppery-colored orange on the Wranglers in...

Any burnt orange cars out there

Is that the same as the Sunburst Orange that Chrysler puts on everything (but only on one year of Wranglers)? Love the color. Looked long and hard for a Wrangler with specific options I wanted in that color..Used only in 2009 on the Wrangler.

    Having an a-body straightened?

CUUDAK: thanks. I'm not near reassembly yet, but I'll keep your advice in mind. The guy at the body shop said the same thing, though: start at the doors after you get new weatherstrip and work forward.

    Having an a-body straightened?

So, after asking just about everyone I knew that was into cars in the area, they all said the body guy I was talking to was a top-notch guy. I took the car over to him to look at. He spent a bit more than half an hour going over the car...Didn't even put it on the frame jig. His verdict was...
