I actually bought a rebuilt steering box from Carsteering back about 10 years now.....I didn't send a core back due to shipping costs. The box is fine and still in use to this day. I have adjusted it a bit, but it is possible to rebuild these boxes yourself if you have the right machinery...

Another helpful hint if you're going for headers..... I just removed the Hooker Super Competition headers from my A100 this past week. Reason: they take up too much real estate under the lid, and they generate a lot of heat. I swapped out to a set of Patriot Hugger style headers, and so far...

Hi Jim, Been doing a load of back-reading to catch up again here. Those steering boxes are rarer than Rocking-horse scat.....so I have contacted a local machine shop to see if they can help repair what I have as a spare. The bearing faces shown in the picture (your pic with arrows attached)...

Trust me....with an angry engine and the amount of wind noise from the most bull-fronted screen and the door design....deafness is not far away. I took mine on it's first road trip to the Beach Hop here in 2010, and with a 4.10:1 rear end, no door rubbers, no carpet and no cabin...

Looking really good now @Jim Kueneman - I haven't checked up on this thread in a while, so I have some back-reading to do. Another shout-out to @Johnny Mac for setting up another member with what I know is a great engine. I am still extremely happy with mine after nearly six years now...

Gee whizz...that looks familiar.... It does fit this way, and it goes in really easy if you take the time to undo the side brackets that hold the engine mounts. Make sure to lube the bolts for re-fitting them. A lift can take a lot of the hard work out of the engine install.

    1. Cardboard likely just to help insulate the terminals when removing or installing, and provide a small amount comfort from touching steelwork. Clip that arrow points to will support main 12V positive cable from battery box. 2. My best guess for Ballast resistor 3. I really don't get what...

I don't have a ballast resistor now. Since mine was a V8 when I got it, I wouldn't like to speculate where yours should go. I use a Ready-to-run distributor now, and so there is no ECU or resistor....also have an internal regulator alternator. from memory, the ballast resistor was...

I also suggest that when you fit the truck back together....install that rear piece of the doghouse before installing the transmission. It will be easier to line things up that way. Bolts & nuts are fine there - you shouldn't ever have to remove that panel.

Mine has three holes along the top for the wiring straps that fold around the wiring loom. Also have an extra hole or two that are random. The holes you have on the bottom left (looking at it in this picture) will be for the starter solenoid and probably also to hold wiring - including that to...

Jim, do yourself a big favour and follow what I did to the doghouse recently. Instead of all those bolts and nuts on the two side panels, install some Rivnuts. That will make accessing the plugs and engine so much faster in future. I used 5/16" aluminium rivnuts, and the drill size for the...

I'm not even sure if the tracks I received with my seats are original to those seats. Seats are currently away being re-covered......I can't wait to see them.

No....never got the retainer clips - I saw in the FSM that they look like small square saddles with a hole approx 3/8" or so. If you get stuck for a rails - I have this pair that I will never use. I looked at the studs and thought they must be for a different model year. I wouldn't be...

How do you get on at night ....does the project A100 live outside with covers....or do you push it inside each night. Curious given your amazing weather...although I guess you get dew in the mornings?

Mine came with Pins with multiple holes and an R clip on each of the 4 corners.. I only changed to bolts for security under our ridiculous government rules. The feeling was that R clips are not secure for seats. I now use the pins with R clips on the back brackets only - bolts on the front.

I have similar tracks to this picture... For the driver side.....except there are ball studs on the rear of each rail. I had welded brackets (from factory) on the wheel housings. Currently have seats modified to suit the brackets exactly as it was setup when I got the truck. The drawing I...

Did you get front seats with either truck Jim? If so, could you please post a couple of pictures underneath? Looking at the Service Manual, it appears wrong with the view given and how the tracks are mounted. I am trying to fit original style front seats, and it is a bit confusing just now...

Not yet. I upgraded from the 360 to a Blueprint Engines 408....and that sent me down the 1/4 at 13.07 on the first attempt. (Right lane) HEMI project will have to wait a little while.
