If I remember correctly, the super comps had all equal length tubes and the comps had some variation in tube length... The comps were more for street and the super comps were for racing...

I used to run them back in the day... You have to break the center link to get them through and the one pipe hangs below the k-frame and will eventually get knocked around and bent as to reduce flow if you drive them on a daily driver on the street... That's why I stopped running them...

Usually they have dogs...

Thanks for the replies so far everyone... I am leaning toward the eastwood or POR-15 since so many have recommended it... While the ceramic coatings look nice and last a while, I'm looking for something more along the stock cast iron look as it's for a low miles rare car that I'm trying to...

Hey guys and gals... I'm doing some work on one of my cars and need to clean up the exhaust manifolds... I've seen a few threads on coatings people use for the exhaust manifolds and am wondering what works best... I'm looking for something that will look good and last a long time in that...

It was tight when we did Eddie's Dart, it looks like your steering shaft is harder into the header than his was... We were able to get away with dimpling the header tube....

Maybe @Treblig could give some advice on this....

Could you use a check valve to keep it from leaking???

I burned through an exhaust manifold once while porting it and mig welded the hole closed with no problems...

I used to run the 5116 super comps on my daily drivers... They have 1 5/8" primary pipes..

Are you sure that they are not part number 5116??? I used to run those, but the left side hangs down under the steering linkage and will get banged on curbs, speed bumps and will crush the pips very badly and block up to 70% of the flow and then will get a hole rubbed through and will leak...

My x-ray vision has determined from the picture that the heat riser is stuck closed and you need to rotate it 90° to open it....

Yes, that thickness will not affect flow much, but we're talking theory and trying to squeeze every last bit of power out that we can.... Not to mention that the inside of the tube is a much harsher environment for the coating to live in compared to the outside of the tube.... Coatings have...

We're not worried about flaking getting back into the cylinder, but the ID reduction restricting the flow.... If the ID of the pipes gets smaller, the flow restriction is increased... Thermal coatings should be on the outside of the pipes, not the inside.... That way it doesn't make the...

Anything that decreases the diameter inside the pipe will not flow as much as the larger pipe... If you are going to run a thermal barrier, put it on the OUTSIDE of the pipe so it doesn't restrict flow.... I gotta go with Rumblefish on this one...

We went with Doug's headers on Eddie's 69 340 Dart.... They fit well and don't hang below the k-member to get beat up on bumps and curbs.... Watch Auto Zone for a sale and jump on it for a better price...

Member @Treblig was making magnum manifolds for a-bodies... Not sure if he's still doing it, but he may be able to let you know if the magnum exhaust manifolds may work with an early A body...
