    Would you have an extra timing tab??? If he's running the 70 and later timing chain cover, then he can just put the cast iron water pump on it and install a timing tab to get a reference for his TDC... Then he can find TDC and make a paint mark on the harmonic balancer to line up with TDC on...

    However if you run a tap down the holes, it will clean up the threads and also remove the wax... I would recommend tapping all holes before putting the bolts in so the threads are good and the bolts can get proper clamp load vs wasting the torque fighting deformed threads and dirt and grime...

    The 90° oil filter adapter goes toward the back and about 10° - 15° below perfect horizontal from the factory.... So it points rearward and slightly downward....
