Do you sleep easy knowing your jack is made in China?

I have an AC Hydraulic jack. Made in Denmark. I believe this is the model I have. I bought in 2003 for a little over $300 plus shipping. Hydraulic Jacks · DK13HLQ · AC Hydraulic A/S Expensive? Yes, but it is a quality made jack and it is low and has a long reach. I was going to buy a...

    cam degreeing issues

Send it back and get this. It has a crank socket that has a separate place to mount the degree wheel on the socket so you can move it independently of the crank. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-4937/overview/

How to drill through hardened steel??

How accurate does the hole need to be? If it doesn't need to be super accurate, try finding a shop that has an EDM. It essentially burns a hole through the metal using a vibrating hollow tube that arcs and slowly burns away the metal. The shop I worked at many years ago had one for removing...

    Hydraulic Press safety questions

First thing you need is good safety glasses. I've had bearing races shatter and send shards flying. Your eye won't heal from that. The other thing you can try is to get a piece of 3/4" plywood that is big enough to hide behind. Lean it up against the press. You would be surprised how much...

Cheap insulation. Is there such a thing?

One thing about fiberglass insulation is that it will mold if it gets damp. You're in Georgia, which gets pretty humid I would imagine. Check out Roxul mineral wool insulation. It will not mold and it's fire resistant. It's also a better insulator than fiberglass...

    Shop Dog (Or Pet) Pictures

Here's my dog, Sara. She's a border collie/Whippet mix (we think). She's sort of a shop dog. Mostly she likes to sunbathe in the driveway, though. Occasionally, she will come into the garage and lick my face when I'm on the creeper under the car. I think I caught her in mid-blink in this photo. :)

    Best garage floor paint?????

I used U Coat it on my garage floor. The concrete was a couple of months old. The process was a huge PITA and the results were only so-so. Their non-skid grit stuff sucks. It's nearly impossible to get it distributed evenly and once it's there, forget about easy cleanup of spills, because the...

    grinding/shaping AL? best method

As others have said, use a wide fluted burr, but the real secret is WD 40. Spray WD 40 on the piece you are working on and a little bit on the burr. Makes a mess, but helps keep it from loading up. You'll have to re-apply it periodically.

Here's my extra wide, extra deep (26 x 35) two-car garage. I had it built 6 years ago. This photo is about 5 years old. It's much messier now.
