    Another 383 Cam Consideration

Is your 383 Duster really going to be a "daily driver"? I'm sure the cam your looking at will run great and have strong low/mid range torque, considering your intake duration at .050 is 216. If I was building a 4x4 truck motor, this would be the cam I'd use. I'm possibly going to going the 383...

    Best Gearing for 8 3/4 Behind 1970 Duster 318

As stated above, depends on your goals. Unless you plan on going on with a larger cam than stock and emphasizing out of the hole acelleration, I'd keep your existing gear. You can always find another 8 3/4 chunk and build it with 3.73-3.91 gears. That way if you want the highway gears back...

Feel like 360 should have more power

I didn't read through all four pages, so nobody roast me if this has already been asked. When you did your initial compression test, did you have the carburetor throttle in the fully open position? Compression readings are consistent, but way too low.

Will 302 heads work with an Air-Gap?

I think you'll find the 262 too mild for all the other parts. I had a similar combo to yours and went with a 268 duration cam, wished I'd gone one notch up (wilder) on the cam. My motor pulled hard from idle to 6K, and I used an old school Torker and 600 Holley DP. Either way, you'll be happy...

Dies if brakes are applied suddenly

I think the float level is too low, like was suggested halfway through this thread. Is it set where the fuel level (primary & secondary) is at the bottom of the sight plugs?

is my cam to big for the heads i have

That cam is bottom end/mid-range in a 340. I think with your gears and converter you could use more cam, as bottom end and mid-range get used up pretty quick with your current setup. I ran a 268 duration/.490 (older grind, not 268XE) in a 318 with 2500 stall and 3.91 gears and I thought it ran...

    360's,gears And Tires

I don't think 4.56 is too much gear for a 360 stroke, depends on the cam and what you expect out of the car.

    Reversing an offset/production piston

I've heard of people doing this on 383's. Has to do with the factory pin off-set. Makes the rod angle better. What it's worth for power or if all Mopar engines have the off-set, I can't say.

    Edelbrock 340 Torker intake?

I've got one on a 318 with heads ported to the 360 runner size. I've got no complaints. I wouldn't run it with a stock converter, though.

    cam suggestions

I would keep duration under 270 degrees @ .050 with stock type compression, converter and gears. Comp Cams 268 or 270 Magnum are good grinds. I'm running a Crower 267/485 in my 318 with a tad under 9-1 compression and am very impressed with the results. Of course, I also have 3.90 gears and a...

    360 overheating -please help

You need to install the stock fan shroud and 5 or 7 bladed fan with the viscous clutch. You might also want to install a pusher fan in front of the radiator if the stock fan/shroud isn't enough. Also like everyone else has said, install a 185 degree thermostat. It's possible if your 360 has...

    headers or not to headers

Last Mopar car show I went to I wondered why non of the A-Bodies had headers on them. After installing a set of cheapy Flowtechs on my 318 Dart Sport, I now know why (all the reasons stated above). A lot of people praise the TTI's, however paying $600 for 10-20 horsepower is not cost...
