You probably should run a flat file over the center to flaten it out.I would say its cup shaped and while they are off would be a good time to fix them for good.

BTW what engine is in your car.Small block I assumed.Make sure the tail end of the headers aren't hitting anything as that would cause it to bind up

if you have a set you removed try using that first to see how it worksI dont thick they got warped by the coolent leaking if the bolts were tight.

You could try doubleing up on the gaskets since it seems the headers are warped and allowing the exhaust to blow thru gaps.If you can get the headers off easy lay them on a flat surface to chaeck for striaghtness.If warped a machine shop should be able to true them up for you.good luck.

I don't know if they still make them but back in the 80's I had a set of thrush with a roadrunner on them.I don't know the offical name but that was the muscle car sound.BTW running water in a glasspack muffler will only cause it to rust faster,the packing doesn't bust apart when cold water hits...

I have hooker headers and they did drag when I pulled in the garage before the rebuild,but after changing from a 318 to a 340 when I pulled out and back in they didn't drag.Why I don't know everything was the same even air in the tires.If your willing to deal with the hassle of hookers summit...

Looks good.My only advice would be to get a heat shield to keep some heat off that starter,it's going to get very hot in the summer.If you can get the shield that has insulation one one side and put that side on the starter it should be enuff.
