They are repairable,depending on how bad its damaged.I did mine and so far so good.It's kind of like a piece of coax cable with the wire in the center and a shield on the out side.I just stripped it out and soldered the end that goes to the radio back on.

I also just rebuilt a 318 but instead of going chrome I sprayed them with high temp black wrinkle paint looks pretty good ,just some food for thought.I would show some pics but I'm not on my computer
