Is 20W-50 too heavy for my 340?

You are fine as long you don’t plan on driving it in the winter which I’m sure you’re not.

Thanks for the info. I'm still getting used to the cam. I may have just waited to long to shift. Was used to shifting by ear with my solid cam. This is a different animal I think.

    Lunati 704

It does sound like a solid lift. I played around with preload also. Well, at least I know running singles isn't a good idea. I will keep observing and keep you guys posted. They way I understood it, Summit just dropped them due to some quality issues.

I have had valve train noise since install. Not on break in with the singles. At 2200rpm I get ticking .It sounds like the valves. Not a lifter tick. Many others with this cam have complained of the same issue with this cam. Car is quiet on start up. After warm up it starts. Runs fine. However...

Has anyone ran single valve springs instead of the doubles the recomend? If so was there any issues? I think it's too much spring and may be collapsing lifters at high rpm. 513 intake/ 533 exhaust.

Lunati 10200704. Noisey. Sounds like a solid without the better performance.

Check out my car and talk to me about 318/340 swap

Never put a 340 in a 69 Charger. It all depends on if you are happy with the 318. You could always take your time, build the 340 while driving and enjoying your car. Then if you get bored with 318 swap it out. I think thats correct on the motor mounts.

    Valve spring options

UPSATE. Measured install height. 1.75. Lunati wanted 1.700. During all this. I grabbed a hold of the springs to if any movement. Some I could move lateraly. Some I could not. Not sure if this ia normal or not. I would think not. Might have a valve issue. Any thoughts on this would be great

    Valve spring options

Gonna check my install height tonight. That my be the issue. Lifters get noisey after car warms up. Was fine during break in with singles. Talked to a tech from Lunati. He was actually polite and helpful. I was thinkin I had to much spring pressure. Running stamped steel rockers at the moment...

I got the part number for my cam and lifter set and it lists the dampers are there. Should I replace them with a better spring or just run those without the centers?

    Valve spring options

I have a Lunati 513 533 lift. 234 242 duration vodoo cam in my 71 340. The double springs that came in the kit are too much for the lifters. Did the break in with the singles and all quiet. Put the doubles in and once the motor heats up they get noisey. I do not race this car. I street drive...

    340 Lifter failure, now what

Thats what started my debaucle. I had 2 fail. Went with a set of comp cams and they get noisey after it heats up. Trying to figure out the best way to go. I had no idea so many people were having issues with hydraulic lifters. It is really crazy.
