    Would you paint aluminum radiator?

I painted the aluminum radiator in my 68 Dart. There was zero difference in running temp and I didn't use "radiator paint." Any good paint will work - just don't lay it on thick. Common sense is key.

I'm assuming based on his first post that he's already tested it. Otherwise, how would he know it has stopped working?

    Would you install this thermostat?

You say it stopped working?? Why would anyone re-install a part that wasn't working? Toss it and buy another one - they're cheap.

I must be extraordinarily lucky. I've never had a problem getting a factory thermostat housing to seal. Those billet ones do look pretty slick though.

Setting up my cooling system ....

Are you sure that's an a/c water pump pulley? It looks to be the standard non-a/c 70-up pulley. The a/c pulley is shallower, has a smaller OD, and runs off the front groove of the crank pulley if I recall. Your setup should work fine though. If anything, you may want to add a good shroud to it...

    451 overheating, even when moving

I realize it's too late now, but I'd have tried a stock fixed fan long before tossing an aftermarket flex fan on it. Didn't you say it's overheating when moving anyway? If that's the case, airflow may not be the (only) issue. Maybe there was some junk in the water jackets in the block that were...

    451 overheating, even when moving

What fan did you try? Was it a factory fixed fan (if so, which one - 5 blade, 7- blade, etc? What diameter?), or was it an aftermarket POS? How far from the radiator was it? Did it have a shroud? If it's overheating when it's moving, it's probably not an air flow issue anyway.

    451 overheating, even when moving

Heck, I'd try taking that mess of a shroud and fans off all together and toss a solid mechanical fan on that water pump with no shroud and give it a shot. At least air would be able to pass through the complete surface of the radiator when the car's in motion.

    360 running hot…very hot

Does anyone make a set of single v-groove pulleys that overdrive the water pump 10-15%?

    360 running hot…very hot

It's likely a dual pass radiator like 92b said above. The OP made it sound like he bought it new, so he can verify. If it's not a dual pass, that'd be an awfully bad f-up for a 'new' radiator.

Thanks. I was looking at that diagram earlier today. Unfortunately, it's slightly different with a single 2-speed fan like I've got. I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks again.

Electric fan runs all the time

Hey, did you by chance wire in an override switch to power the fan(s) manually instead of through the controller. I'm trying to wrap my mind around how that would be done using the Dakota fan controller. Seems like it would require a 5-pin relay upstream of the switched power for the controller...

    Pulley size ? on cooling

It might just be the angle, but that crank pulley is tiny. I'd be curious what your w/p pulley ratio is. Most people want at least a 1:1, or close to it.

    Cooling issue on highway

I've always wondered - are electric fans all rated the same way (like a static air flow at a specific voltage measured at a specific distance from the fan)? Or do the manufacturers decide the parameters that they rate their fans under? I've always felt like you kind of have to take advertised...
