    i just seen this thread and here are some things to look at. 1) lower hose colapsing 2) ignition timing can cause this also . to far advanced or to late will make it run hot.

    you also need to make sure the oil pump drive is in correct, that is if you took it out for some reason. is the dizzy vacum advance or is it mechanical? before I would start all over, I would turn the dizzy's rotor 180* from where it is now and try to start the car again. if the resuslts are...

    You can use a stock but it's hard to get to the tranny bolt that holds it in place. this time I used a Lokar flexible.
