    /6 turbo

Early Chrysler Turbo cars were draw-thru. The turbos had double seals for the shaft. When they went to blow-thru, they eliminated one of the seals. GM had issues with draw-thru and sucking oil. Just pointing out an engineering potential.

    Slant 6 MPG Upgrades?

May I suggest MPGenie Program | Ecoceptor for fuel efficiency ideas. Lots of topics, different approaches, maybe a few things will resonate.

    Slant factory performance

No, Dan, the Power Plates were melted down for scrap metal around 2000 because of lack of sales. Carburetors were becoming a thing of the past (at least for daily drivers) and the owner of the company just threw in the towel. Those are the real world results I got, that's my story, and I'm...

    Slant factory performance

Let's start in the middle: 225, 2-bbl, 0.030" clean-up bore, 0.100" shaved of the ported head, stock size valves, Comp Cams 252M, stock 2.76 rear, and OD 4-speed. I played around with screen under the carb and got a best of 29 MPG. I then bought a (now defunct) product called the Power Plate...

Slant won't drive over 25mph without cutting out

Check slop in your timing chain. That would cause low vacuum. Many /6's had those plastic covered cam gears. The plastic gets brittle and breaks off, causing cam timing issues. A worn cam lobe would hurt vacuum as well. Since they removed the zinc oxide from engine oils, more older engines...

Slant won't drive over 25mph without cutting out

Pulstar is on I think Gen 4 of their plugs. I got hooked about 14 years ago. They went to Platinum and Iridium, which totally sucked! They recently (within the past 5 years) did another revamp. I have the current generation in our Jeep GC and like them. Standard plugs kept fouling out cyl...

Peanut Gallery Survey for my /6 Build ...

There have been several useful recommendations offered that have the potential to do what you need. Given the criteria you mentioned, I'd like to offer my take. If I were in your position, here is what I would do. I'd just clean up the block, give it a 0.030" over-bore, line hone the mains...

Since it resurfaced, I used that Comp Cams 252 grind and loved it.

Slant won't drive over 25mph without cutting out

Is it possible that when you went to work it was in low humidity conditions, but coming home it was raining (or otherwise high humidity conditions)? Water conducts electricity (at least water with "stuff" in it like rain water or water splashed up from the road). You may have a fuel system...

Are the valves clacking away? May be time for a valve adjustment. Is your EGR valve stuck open? I'm thinking, I'm thinking... Mike

225 bucking and surging in gear while stopped....

It could also be a torque converter issue, trying to lock up. If all else fails, try looking at that. Mike

    Turbo slanty project?

I once turbo'd a L6 for a grand total of $450, including the 409 stainless exhaust & muffler. It can be done on the cheap. The '73 Dart I did ran like a low-comp 340 at 10 psi and managed 23 mpg on the highway. I used the Garret turbo from the '85-'89 Chrysler 2.2, 318 truck 2-bbl (exact...

    My Slant won't start

It almost sounds like you swapped out a bad distributor cap & rotor and when you put it back together you lost track of which wires went where. I did that many times over the years. Glad to hear you're mobile again, though. FWIW, the slant is not an interference engine. There's too much of a...

Loss of power with new cam

Just to throw in my $0.02, valves should be adjusted with the engine at operating temperature. Adjusting them cold to get it started is a first step, but when it warms up, pop the VC and run the feeler gauges again. I used that cam in my '70 Duster and absolutely loved it! It certainly has...

170 slant six turbo build / cheaply

Chrysler used a draw-thru configuration for their '84-'87 TI turbos. The center section had an additional seal to keep oil from being sucked in under vacuum conditions. The later blow-thru turbos omitted these seals (for cost reasons I presume). I like the earlier turbos, even for blow-thru...

170 slant six turbo build / cheaply

I'm amazed how you fit the exhaust outlet between the turbo and firewall! There couldn't be much room there. I love ingenuity. I love creativity. Nice work! Mike
