Slant six fly wheel and clutch on a 318?

you can re drill the flywheel bolt pattern. the bigger difference is the slant uses a 122 tooth flywheel the 318 uses a 130 tooth flywheel. the 318 flywheel is a bigger diameter, the slant flywheel will not mesh with the starter in the 318 flywheel housing.

    A-body K Members

Concerning the K member. I recently shipped a K member from Indy to Central Fl for about $200.00 including the box. Shipped via Fed Ex. They had a standard Fed Ex shipping box the K member fit into. Shipped a lot cheaper than I thought it would.

    Disaster for neighbor

I also went with the Element fire extinguisher. I have one in the 68 Barracuda and one in the 83 D150. They are mounted in easy reach under the drivers seat. To me the Jay Leno demonstration and the you tube videos show an effective way to put out a fire without the difficult clean up associated...

Cam gone flat? Here's a interesting video.

Offenhauser race motors that ran at Indy in the 50’s and 60’s were overhead camshaft, with the cams having a hole gun drilled through the length of the cam. Engine oil was pressure fed into that passage. There were a pair of connecting holes drilled in the lob just ahead of the point of max...

Cam gone flat? Here's a interesting video.

When installing new flat lifters / cam, one should always check that the basic machining characteristic that causes the lifter to spin as the engine is running is present. 1) place the cam side of the lifter against a very flat surface like a piece of window pane glass. Viewing from the side of...

    I Wanna Talk About Barracudas

And you hit on my original intent, which was to make a 68 Barracuda version of a 1968 Charger 500. The flush rear glass is already in place, I was wanting to move the grill work forward like the Charger 500. It does not show in the photos, but the air that hits the front grill is all ducted. It...

Hey Cosgig, my 68 Barracuda has the 742 8.75 in it that I bought from you many years ago.

    I Wanna Talk About Barracudas

The 68 Barracuda has been my favorite car since I was 16 years old. I was wanting to change it around a bit. Make a feature or two something Chrysler could have done. The grill is my take on that. I fit in the grill and head light surrounds from a ‘67 Coronet. The outer head lamps are the low...

    NO CLASSIC CARS

haven't seen any Because they are all gone, my advice is to get ahead of the curve and get one of the 'Next' hot cars. I am speaking of the 1987 to 1994 Dodge Shadow or 1989 to 1995 Dodge Spirit. Everything I have been reading points to towards these cars just skyrocketing in collector car...

alternative grommet for Wagner adjustable PCV

I custom fit that gromet to my sheet metal valve cover. You will need to determine if the 1.156 OD works for you.

alternative grommet for Wagner adjustable PCV

re doing the valve cover that I have a Wagner adjustable PCV valve in. The Wagner PCV valve itself is a nice part, but I thought the grommet that they supply with it does not really seal that valve the best around the base. Found Dorman 42320 grommet that is a better fit to the Wagner PCV...

    Bolt Elongation

Well, I have not used an impact wrench on a 90 ft lb bolt. I am sure the marks on the bolt head are from the well used 12 point socket.

    Bolt Elongation

The raised burr is from me while using worn 12 point socket I put a 3 inch extension on the snap on clicker torque wrench, thinking the additional height would give me a better angle, obviously it did not. I then changed to the 6 point deep impact socket. The deep socket gave a better angle and...

    Bolt Elongation

Not being able to pull up to torque a was a red flag for me, don't want a bearing cap walking around in a differential. I have a spare 741 case so I pulled one out of that. That 741 is a peg legger, don't believe it was gotten into previously.

    Bolt Elongation

The way that bolts, particularly critical fastners like rod, head, flywheel bolts provide the clamp load to keep things together is when tightened to specification, the bolt actually stretches and acts like a rubber band that has tension on it. A bolt in that condition is said to be in...

1971 Duster 340 No Fender Tag

But what the heck,, a car does not need to be 100% documented and 200% original to be a great car. I say, make the car what you want it to be and a car that you will enjoy. If you build a car thinking what the next owner will want you are building it for the wrong reasons.

Ordered some more parts today. Who is buying everything?

Ordered parts today from Dr Diff to rebuild the 742 differential in the 68 Barracuda. New 3:55 ring and pinion, gasket kit, minimum install kit. Everything was in stock and shipped out today. Including the gear set, shipping and taxes it came in under $300.00 I am happy.

    1958 Dodge

Nice find on the wheels. Concerning their appearance and if they need to match cosmetically. That really depends upon how finished the rest of the car will be. Personally I think that the wheels and tires are the single biggest accent on any car and especially on classics. I would want all 4...

    Normal for Water Pump Housings?

Looks to me the manufacturer used an epoxy material to fill in porosity left from the casting process. And they did a really poor job of it. failing body shop schedule

Yours is a common story, when I redid the 83 D150 it was in body shop hell for almost 2 years. And I delivered to that shop the truck body on the frame that was 100% stripped. The owner got it about 1/2 done then quit working on it. That was a shop that specialized in car crash repair. The owner...
