    Brake pedal height question

info on the TWO brake pressure gauges Allstar Performance ALL80172 Allstar Performance Brake Bias Gauges | Summit Racing I installed that gauge set as I have two line locks, a front and a rear. Used that back when I was drag racing the car, a poor man's trans brake, it worked well. I once had a...

    Brake pedal height question

I do not, IIRC I reused the stock mc brake pushrod.

    Brake pedal height question

And Dr Diff said the same thing, the smaller MC piston will increase travel but also increase pressure. So what about increasing free pedal height?

    Brake pedal height question

I have brake pressure gauges mounted in the car that show pressure right at the MC for the front and rear brake system. They both pick up immediately and show pressure on the gauges upon moving the pedal, and the pedal movement does not seem excessive, at full leg strength push I am no where...

    Brake pedal height question

Not an issue with excessive pedal travel either, as stated in the first post as well as post #14, the issue is the height of the brake pedal in the free state.

    Brake pedal height question

"I have the same set up and my pedal is rock hard." and I am not sure where the soft pedal comments are coming from, I never said that. The pedal resistance is fine. I my question has to do with free pedal height. Thanks

    Brake pedal height question

Watched a YouTube video on changing the rear brake pads on a cobra mustang. They used a special tool that turned the caliper piston as opposed to using a C clamp. Seems that the cobra caliper piston ratchets as it moves out. But all they did was spin the piston in to make room for the new...

    Brake pedal height question

It does have a built in e brake, the Dr Diff kits are based on Mustang Cobra calipers. I will look into that.

    Brake pedal height question

I have the 73 and up disks on the front, 10.95 rotors with the 2.75 inch diameter caliper pistons and the Dr Diff rear disk brakes on the back. The master cylinder is the Dr Diff 15/16 piston unit. going from the stock 4 bolt MC to the 2 bolt MC I used the Dr Diff adapter. I also believe that re...

    Jeep liberty rear disc help

The big box auto parts store have assorted lengths of brake lines that are flared on each end. Typically it is a steel alloy that bends and flares easily with basic tube bending and flare tools. Tube flaring / bending is not difficult but requires some technique. Watch a few you tube videos.

    Axle Shaft Leak

Dr Diff provides good service and info and parts, but the inner axel seals that he sells is not in the ‘good part’ category. The inner axel seals that Dr Diff has on his web page are the exact same bottom shelf Duralast 8.75 inner axel seal that AutoZone sells. The inner axel seal that you want...

    Finned vs smooth brake drum

Don’t know if it would fit within the regulations, but consider some ducting to bring cooling air towards the drums. There are kits for road racing that have powered fans so there is cooling even at low vehicle speed. Maybe something that you could remove when it is time for a re inspection...

    Inline tube

I used inline tube hard brake lines on two vehicles. One was 10 years ago, the second was about 5 years ago and both sets of brake likes fit about perfect. Maybe they are not as good as they used to be.

    Proportioning Valve

If you just used a 4 way connector you managed to disgard the seperated front and rear hydraulic brake systems and the safety factor that goes with it. If you are running a single chamber master cylinder you don’t have separate front and rear hydraulic brake systems. That is not the safest brake...

    Proportioning Valve

As mentioned, although called a ‘proportioning valve’ those units are actually more of a distribution block, used to keep the front and rear hydraulic brake systems separate when a dual master cylinder is used. They also house a valve that when it senses a large pressure difference between the...

Interesting, and what fitting is put into the 1/8 pipe fitting? And are you using something low volume like a hand bicycle pump?

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

Nelson’s looks to be an old school car shop, those are nice to have around. Just one question, is the Nelson proprietor a Ricky or Admiral?

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

If you are getting fluid through it when you bleed the brakes, it is ‘working’

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

the pad wear looks OK its going to be light, remember this set up is a Ford Caliper on a Toyota disk,, they fit together and work together, but each was not designed with the other in mind.. If you are still having problems after re bleeding the brakes I would be back with Dr Diff.

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

here is a post on adjusting the Mustang Cobra caliper pistons. You should be able to find others with more detail, but it appears that setting the parking brake adjusts the caliper piston, so now that you have the parking brake cables routed properly set and release the parking brake a few times...

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

agree, with parts today, anything is possible, but these distribution blocks on the drum - drum cars are exactly that, a simple two chamber distribution block with a piston sensor between the two chambers that activates to turn on the 'Brake' light if there is a pressure difference between the...

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

I looked closely at the distance between the pads and the the rotor side and used the washers to center the pads to the rotor. It did not take much to do that and probably not causing the brake issue that your are dealing with.

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

The distribution block and the T at the rear axel look like the ones that are on my 68 Barracuda, and are not causing brake issues, so your problem is not likely to be there. I do agree with the comment above that the rear pads / rear caliper need to be adjusted. I also had to use a thin washer...

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

post a photo of your distribution block. Also check to see if there is a secondary block - valve at the distribution block or further down the lines toward the rear brakes. I did not have one on my 68 Barracuda , but I had read that some mopars have a rear brake hold off valve that allows the...

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

No do not apply line pressure to a brake caliper when it is dismounted, that will fully extend the piston and probably pop it out. yes you can see the pad to the rotor interface, go look.

Who has Dr. Diff 8 3/4 rear discs? Pt. 2

I have a Dr Diff rear disk brake kit with the Mustang calipers on my 68 Barracuda and they work fine. I have the Mopar 73 and up disk sets on the front and am using the 15/16 master cylinder as recommended by Dr Diff. The 68 Barracuda was a 4 wheel drum car and I maintained the OE distribution...
