Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere first thought. Does rpm increase a bunch in park vs drive under load.At idle? Or idle mixture or float sticking or adjustment needed

2 450's should be good with compression said. always can mess with jets.

Im putting flip top gas cap from 67 up on my 65 Dart project for this reason. I was able to use a portion of 67-69 cuda sheet metal and weld 6" higher to make more usable than stock. You could still get an adaptor for flip top if interested in original location to eliminate stock situation. Dave

You can heat grommet up with heat gun and physically stretch it out from inside.It usually will soften up rubber. I have used dish soap as well on both surfaces. Dave

Linkage bind or I have seen throttle plate shaft actually move side to side on aftermarket equipment.

Possible issues: Carb no good.....advance timing?.......bigger accererator squirt nozzles/cam as suggested.......in line filter......... vacuum advance issues..... vacuum leak or combination of any.

I am running 2- Holley older 460cfm carbs on 383 weiand tunnel ram. 50 cc squirters. Tried larger carbs, too much fuel. This setup runs awesome with mild built 11:1 engine. I can get #s off carbs if anyone wants to compare to whats available. 2" fenderwell headers also D.
