Could experiment and add some flake/pearl in clear coat over the white on a sample piece and determine amount of coats needed for your liking. Base coat clear coat system.

The roof trunk don't look that bad, at least from pics. Maybe can temporarily experiment with pin stripe tape 1/4-1/2" wide.(easily removed). Thinking silver? Just to hide that uneven edge of orange on sides of car or all. And still have the look you are looking for....Just a thought

Holes can be spaced approximately. Can move clips around as needed. Id be more worried about distance from door/window edge and size of hole...... Dave

I taped off chrome to paint due to delicate aluminum Sheet material. Easily can be bent out of shape. But can be removed gingerly With patience.

Those bubbles indicate my above post. There must be thin metal from rust behind surface creating pin holes that were covered up or surface rust ground down initially leaving half the thickness of sheetmetal with rust behind it eventually overtime moisture from behind breaks thru metal pushing...

That's what putting Plastic/bondo in rust pinholes looks like 6 months to a year after paint, pending on location/climate...…...

I'm sorry you're trying to restore a car in any capability to bring it back to life why would you mess around and not do it right. There are still ways you can do things to make it look good and refinished but this Patina thing gotta go Unless you truly enjoy a look of that sort. All good...

Fiberglass strengthened (bondo)packed tightly around welds. Then you could use anything that floats your bowl. Ive done cars 30 years ago no issues.
