Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

If I could find a bbp setup locally then I'd probably do it. Shipping into Canada will kill any good deals from the US. Places like Pirate Jacks etc would be even more. I do want to stick with a factory brake system. Aftermarket stuff is even more money, not worth it imo.

Using mustang rotors for 4.5" bc

I'd be very interested. I'm planning on using KH brakes on my 1970 Dart, have everything from spindles, calipers, pads brackets, and rotors.Upgrading the diff to a D60 with BBP axles so it makes sense to find a method to change the front discs to BBP as well. These rotors are in great shape and...

How the heck would someone go about getting brake parts for an aussie mopar? Rock auto sure doesn't carry them!

I agree with you about the cost of 4 piston KH brakes. I have a set I am restoring to first rate capacity, stainless pistons etc. I also have those 4.5" pattern brakes from an M body and spindles, and also there is my 10" manual drum spindles .I have 3 ways to go,and am not sure I would want to...

There is this too. In the face of rare parts becoming even more rare, this alternative is cost effective, and gives you modern widley available parts. Scarebird Classic Brakes LLC

Disc brakes for 8 3/4 using only Mopar parts

    9in. to 10in. Drum Conversion

Yes,those came factory on my 70 Dart with 318.For some bizzare reason,my car had an 8 3/4,possibly a replacement by a p/o.. And lots of guys will get a kick out of you rescuing an unpoplular or ugly mopar. It's what our hobby is all about. You wanna get a kick, check out my resoration thread. 48...

    9in. to 10in. Drum Conversion

Keep us updated when you go for it. Fabo is a huge resource, and someone will be able help if you need it. I'm convinced now that I also will go with scarebird. I recently acquired a Dana 60 from a ford pu . It will need narrowing, custom axles etc so might as well go with the 4.5"pbolt circle...

    9in. to 10in. Drum Conversion

I used to feel t hat I was going to use my 4 piston kelsey hayes disc brakes on my 70 dart, but the price of these parts is INSANE. Im probably better off using a scarebird conversion myself!

    9in. to 10in. Drum Conversion

I agree on swapping to disc, and this is what I would do.You might want to think on the safety factor of disc brakes vs drum in an urban environment. All it takes is one jerk off cutting you off, your in a panic stop and parked in his trunk... Take a look at this. I believe this is the most...

I see there is a picture of the adaptor in their installation instructions. It's a really simple thing, easy to make.

Looks like to get that caliper adaptor for 10" drum spindles you need to spend over $1100 for the entire kit.Lol...they dont list the adaptor at all.

Ahh,theres the rub. You need their kit to make it all work. And that is not apparent on their web sight.

Could you provide a link please? Im thinking they aren't popular due to high cost(because SSBC is the source),but I couldn't click on anything in the image.Update; I went to their web sight, and those rotors are likely small bolt pattern. The reason for using mustang rotors is to gain the big...

    Anyone tried Jeep 10 x 1 3/4 drums on 8 3/4 stock length axles?

So you found a C body with an 8 3/4,and cut/resplined the axles, then used the c body drums? Good swap.

I stopped by with my rotor. A quick inspection revealed the Ranger rotor is about 10 1/8 of an inch, about 1/2 inch smaller than the Dart one.

Ever look into this? My rotors are just floating loose in my shop. Im thinking of taking one into the local jobber, and get them to bring up a Ranger rotor. Then break out a digital caliper, and a camera.

The Kelsey-Hayes Disk Brake Swap Thread

Good info Dan. Might I also add that if you do have rusty calipers in need of carefull resto,Evaporust saved mine. The above mentioned grooves that hold on the boot may be badly rusted or gone. Hi temp silicone might help seal and hold the boots in place. One big problem area with these...

The Kelsey-Hayes Disk Brake Swap Thread

Hmm,I doubt it. Clamping force comes from the threads. If it's a real worry, could always sleeve the bolt for a snug fit. I tend to worry more about the wear areas on the calipers, where the brake shoes slide. Those,if grooved can cause brakes to stick. Not a good thing.
