I got rid of the other box when I went to the MSD. Now thinking about ot I did drill holes and went with self tapping hex heads.

I mounted mine top right looking under the hood. Don't think I had to drill any holes mounting it this way. This was before my MSD set up.

When I wired mine according to the directions that came with it, the in dash light automaticaly came on when i hit the button.

I run mine at 35* on the street and 37* at the track on a 70 340 motor.

Run a heavy gauge fused wire directly from your battery to an installed power block in your trunk. Then a out of that to a 50amp I believe, fused line to your amp. Problem gone!!! Run a line from the radio from the auto antenna, usually a blue wire, if it has one, to the on/off line of the amp...

Get rid of the resistor if your using the 6 or 6al box. But don't forget to join the 2 wires from the resistor together or it won't stay running.

I have the MSD billet in mine.

Must have power locks!!! Use a slimjim. Locksmith might have one and know how to use it. I'd fess up first and offer to pay for the locksmith.

Did you check your starter relay and or safety neutral switch.

I had the problem once. replaced alt and regulator problem went away. My meter would sometimes rise up and down before hand also. If your running the stock alt they never did put out good. Voltage would always drop when you turned on the lights. Hell in winter with wipers,defrost, and lights...

Actually it was the wiring at the s/n switch itself.

Mikel did you get one. I had a prob thought it was relay turned out to be loose safety n switch.

Find the napa and call there before you leave work and maybe they will have it in the store by the time you get there. If they don't have it they will get it!

Cheezz the one you have now lasted 30 years. How nuch more do you want out of it? :tongue5: Don't know of a heavy duty one. I think mine cost $12 two years ago also at Napa.

Bolted to the intake, could that be a radio noise surpressor? Condensor for the points would be under the distributor cap, no?

I'll take it for granted that this is a separate unit from the Tach and does not get its signal from the tach. As I recall it should be wired the same as the tach.
