    Magnum Commando Tribute VC’s

This was my stab at commando look alike valve covers, using aftermarket fabricated covers.

    Yeah, me too:rofl:

5.9 magnum stock vs aftermarket heads for 400hp

Check your magnums for cracks first. How much are you going to have into the machine work to do the valve job, plunge cut the throats, new guides, shorten the guides for clearance and teflon seals, plus new springs, retainers etc?

383 magnum versus 383 big block

Might have found a deal on an early forged crank 400, just like the one in my car was before I stroked it. If so I may build a stock stroke engine with performance and economy in mind.

383 magnum versus 383 big block

Also I run a hydraulic roller in the 500 now. I've had it with flat tappet cams after one ruined my 400. What cam would you use in the magnum stroker?

383 magnum versus 383 big block

To answer a few questions I had $1,000 and a lot of time invested in my ported 452's so I would probably do a budget aftermarket head on either build. I have a 500 stroker in the cuda so I am not shy about using a big block. To be honest I have been thinking about more of a cruiser than a race...

383 magnum versus 383 big block

Interesting, I might have thought it the other way around, with the long stroke engine having the lower torque peak.

383 magnum versus 383 big block

That's what I was thinking. Where did the torque peak on the two engines?

383 magnum versus 383 big block

Yes I agree the big block has more ultimate power potential. I just wondered if the long stroke small block might be more efficient, with the small bore and high velocity heads, while achieving the same power levels? I learned form my stroker big block that torque is what to look for on the...

383 magnum versus 383 big block

I have been thinking about building a reliable street engine for a heavy car, running A/C, power steering and brakes, throttle body fuel injection, and some form of O/D transmission. I used to run a 400 with a 222/234 cam, pocket ported heads (250 cfm), dual plane intake, 1 3/4 headers. It...

    5.2 into 68 Dart

Seems to me after reading some build threads that intake flow on stock heads stalls over 450 lift, so I can't see any point in much over 500 lift. The real question is haw much more duration can you put into a 318 before you start losing bottom end?
