    Initial Torqueflite tear down findings

I recently had my torque convertor rebuilt and the fellow said they had problems sourcing "wide ring gear" cores. It might be worth rebuilding, or selling for a core.

    external balance torque converters

Thanks Max, that is what I needed to know:thumbsup:

Yes, the weighted flexplate is an option as well.

    external balance torque converters

I am putting together a cast crank 400. My research indicates that the cast crank 400 and 440 engines used the same weights on the torque convertors. Does anyone know if the cast crank 340 and 360 LA engines used the same weights? I am looking for a stock 11 inch converter, and that would...

The quicksilver will fit, I used one. See the old thread "Aftermarket shifter in factory console"

Thanks Kim. I didn't get a chance to work on it today. Too many home projects.

    Filter change capacity

Thanks guys, I was just looking for a starting point. Didn't want to overfill it or start it with way too little in it. I have to change the speedo gear anyway so I figured I might as well change the filter while I was at it.

Does anyone know how many quarts it takes to refill a 727 after a filter change?

Looking for info on the 440 4BBL Torque Converters

I believe the 383 2 barrel and the 440 4 barrel 11.75 convertors are the same. the difference in stall is simply due to the added torque of the 440.

    Speedometer Gear for Km?

Yes, I have done that in the past, what is your gear ratio and tire diameter? There is a calculator on Big Block Dart in the tech section. Just use a known speed in kilometres for example 62 mph=100 kph.

    2004R in 1964 A body

The whole tunnel in an early A seems smaller. I had to use a BFH on the floor just to fit a 727 automatic in my 66 cuda years ago.

    Jeff's 727 rebuild thread

I'll go one step further and suggest you put in an unmolested valve body and try it first before you modify it.

    Cal tracs on the street?

I usually just leave them with the small gap. The car doesn't pull to either side, so no need to preload one side versus the other. I'll know more when I try the stickier tires. I posted these pics on the other cal tracs thread.

    Cal tracs on the street?

Been running mine for over a year and no discernable damage. I would think you hit the spring harder on launch than going over a bump.

    Cal tracs on the street?

That's good to hear. I had issues hooking on Nitto drag radials. I installed cal tracs and still had issues. I just bought a set of M/T drag radials, but haven't had a chance to run them yet, so I hope they work as well as yours did. As far as the ride is concerned I find it normal except...

    Any idea what stall?

I'll second that. I had Pat rework my stock 340 convertor into a 3000-3500 stall and it works great, even when I changed to the 500 stroker.

    B & M QuickSilver With Lokar Kickdown???

I don't have any pictures on hand but I run a Quicksilver shifter and the lokar kickdown without any issues. I seem to recall that the swivel from the shifter cable has to go up from the bottom of the lever, which makes the cotter pin a bit difficult to get at.

What is the best way to get an overdrive auto in a 67 Barracuda?

Your speedo is fine, it is just reading in kilometers per hour.

    B & M shifter cable routing

I burned two or three with hedman headers. I finally brought mine over the top of the bellhousing and down the side. I used a silicone hose for a sleeve and added a reflective woven cover over that. i used the bellcrank bolt boss and made a bracket to hold it in place.

    Rear End Carnage!!!!!

The sequence may have been broken teeth from the ring gear jamming between the ring and pinion gears and breaking the caps, not the other way around. The HD 489 case Dr Diff has sounds like a good plan.

    Street Gear Poll

I run 28 inch tall tires on the cuda. I had 3.91 gears when I was running the stock stroke 400, and decided to swap out to 3.23's when I built the stroker. I didn't like them and ended up with 3.55's which are just about perfect. I run 3000 rpm at 70 mph, and about 2200 at 50 mph. Granted I...

The angle of the picture is somewhat deceiving. It is within spec.

    Which driveshaft loop?

Here is the Lakewood style installed in my cuda. I shortened the bottom loop a couple of inches. I used the seat track studs for the outboard bolts, and just drilled extra holes for the inboard bolts.

    Ratchet shifter

I did the Quicksilver also, but used the cover that comes with it on top of the console. It puts the shifter a little higher for a better reach.
