Not a Mopar but ...AMC 360 on the Dyno

I would be very happy if the torque curve on my 400 build looked like that.

who to trust for hydraulic flat lifters these days?

I bought a Summit cam and lifter kit, and from the pictures the lifters appeared to be the same as the Melling ones. Glad to hear they are OK.

    LD 4B tells a story...

I know this is for a big block, but the ports on my second hand Edelbrock Performer 383 were amazingly accurate. I saw no need for any port matching

Let's Build a 416 with Cast Iron Heads and Manifolds

I just noticed this thread Brian. I am following along to see how it all plays out.

Received a very nice thank you from Edelbrock today.

Nice work John. If more people took that attitude towards getting problems addressed, it would benefit all of us.

Suggestions for new design Aluminum Mopar SB clean slate (kind of) cylinder heads

Johnny, thanks for sticking with us on this, despite all of the arguing.

Suggestions for new design Aluminum Mopar SB clean slate (kind of) cylinder heads

I am no longer dealing with small blocks, but I always wondered why the magnum heads had such a narrow pushrod pinch compared the the LA heads, especially since the pushrods are in the same position?

    Missing at cruise. 5

I had the same problem. I disconnected the vacuum advance and that solved it. A friend showed me how to test it by increasing rpm slowly in neutral and see if it started to break up, if so it is too much advance. That is exactly what mine did.

Ok old timers , i need your knowledge on this cam ! Direct connection camshaft

My buddy and I used to run the 280/480 street hemi grind cam. When that one came out we switched up to it. We saw no gain in ET at the track and the idle was way worse. This is not a cam I would use in a heavy car.

    NEW 360 LA CRATE TEARDOWN

Did that come with a flat tappet cam? It looks like it has the bosses to run factory roller lifters. Is that part of the plan?

You talked about running a bigger valve. Not sure if it is just my eyes, but those valves look like they are almost touching.

    Eagle Forged Stroker Crank CRACKED

That reminds me of one long weekend racing. I was experimenting with a carb spacer that had a slot to insert a sheet metal divider. Long story short, the divider worked loose and metal went through the intake into a cylinder. There was no damage to the head or the cylinder, the piston just...

    Stock 340 dyno tests?

My completely stock 50,000 mile 1968 Formula S notch ran a best of 14.2 at I think 98 MPH. I am sure about the ET, not as sure on the MPH. It was a long time ago. The car had 3.23 gears and 185/70-14 radial tires and didn't spin at all.

Offenhauser Dual Port 360 - run it or scrap it?

Technically it is a single plane intake, or two stacked single planes.

This is why if you port your heads, port your intake

Nice, looks like you bought two single cuts and some double cut ones also. How do the double cut ones work? They look a lot like what I was using.

360 LA installing Promaxx Aluminum heads

I managed to find a set of RJ12YC's so I'll put them in and put some more miles on it and see what they look like. If it needs to be leaned out further I probably won't pull the carb apart until the off season, just so I don't have any down time during what's left of the good weather. I don't...

360 LA installing Promaxx Aluminum heads

The engine is a 361 with an actual calculated 8.5:1 compression ratio. I upgraded to a small cam which is essentially the same as the stock 383 four barrel cam. I figured due to the low compression I would stick with a hotter plug, hence the 14's. I am not up on the whole ground strap and...

360 LA installing Promaxx Aluminum heads

Finally I have a brief update on my carb tuning. I changed the rods to the 64/56 rods. I noticed a slight part throttle hesitation, so I changed from the green springs to the silver ones which step up the rods at 8 inches of vacuum. I had a chance to drive it about 30 miles today, and the...

360 LA installing Promaxx Aluminum heads

I pulled out the stock rods and they were 60/52 as I guessed. I popped in the 64/56 rods. It took less than 5 minutes. Beginner's luck maybe, but I had no trouble with the e clip. We'll see how it runs on the weekend.

360 LA installing Promaxx Aluminum heads

My kit arrived today. Looking at the card it appears that the stock primary jets must be 78's as that is the one missing from the kit. The 60/52 rod is also the one missing from the kit. I am going to Moparfest this weekend, which is about a 1 1/2 hour drive each way so it will be a good...
