    HOME MADE EXHAUST

Like I said, not pretty but it worked. This was when I was using the Hedman B body headers. I later changed to a full TTi system.

    HOME MADE EXHAUST

I built my first system with 2 1/2 inch parts store bends and straight pieces that I taped together and then welded. I did use stock tailpipes, but it worked pretty well

    69 Dart 383 headers

Another vote for the TTI's They fit great, as long as you have manual steering. I used the 1 3/4 version, and they should be plenty big enough for a 383. The larger the primary pipes the tighter they get.

A Really Cool "A-Body (GM)" Exhaust System

    That is very neat, Tom

    Exhaust Manifold Repair

I believe that same manifold was used on b bodies also, so they are more plentiful than the drivers side. I have seen a couple on sale here before.

    They look like Schumacher tri-Y's.

    TTI Long Tube Header Question

Here's another picture for reference. Big block 1 3/4 headers. You'd be hard pressed to got them any closer to the floor.

    TTI headers

Mine were 1 3/4 headers, some say they were too small but they fit really well. X or H is personal preference. I went with the old school H pipe partly because I like the sound and partly for access.

    TTI headers

They did not hang low or rattle on my car.

    440 Headers for 69 Dart/What are these?

They look like 2 inch TTi's to me.

bb 440 in 1968 cuda and TTI shorty

My TTi 1 3/4 long tubes barely hang below the frame rails. Mine is a 400 block. The 440 might set them slightly higher?

    Big block header identification.

The second set look like Hedman 1 3/4 headers. I had them on my 400 in the Barracuda. They need some dinging and denting, but will fit, manual steering only.

    3" exhaust reducing down to 2 1/2" after x-pipe

I agree that the best solution would be 3 inch into the mufflers and 2 1/2 out to the tailpipes.

    A Droning story

GREAT GUY Advisory! Tom Hand basically tracked down a set of VTs Then sent them to me! Awesome! What a guy, I mean this just goes to show you how great our community is! Tom is a great guy. He helped me out with exactly the same issue and I installed the VT's. I had the opportunity to drive...

    Steel wool?

They look like chrome plated tti's. Mine looked like that, I used SOS pads (like brillo) and then chrome polish, but it didn't do much. I painted them with hi temp silver paint from about 8 inches from the port down, but now I notice some of it is peeling off.

    New Dynomax VT Exhaust

My TTi's cleared everywhere else by a ton. All the places where the Hedmans were tight, the TTi's cleared with room to spare. There would have been no need to clearance the pitman arm on my car. His car was a 67 as well, so I wonder if it is because of the different idler arm setup?

    New Dynomax VT Exhaust

I bought them used and the previous owner obviously had a problem with pitman arm clearance.

    New Dynomax VT Exhaust

Installed my new MT drag radials on Saturday. Now I just have to find some time to get back to the track and do some more testing.

    New Dynomax VT Exhaust

When I connected them directly to the headers to test them there was some clanging of the valves at idle. I have a pretty healthy hydraulic roller cam with 236/242 duration, so the idle is choppy. Once I got the whole system installed with the H pipe, I do not hear any clanging or rattling at...

    New Dynomax VT Exhaust

Here is the icing on the cake. I went to the Mopar day at Cayuga and ran the car on Sunday. We had a pretty serious tail wind, exactly the same conditions as when I posted my previous best time of 11.53. That day the car ran about 117 mph all day with a best of 118.59. On Sunday even though...

    New Dynomax VT Exhaust

While I was changing the exhaust system I decided to install a new Wideband A/F ratio gauge I had bought a while ago. It is now in and operating, and I can see I need to do some carb tuning. It is way rich all the time.

    New Dynomax VT Exhaust

I picked up a used set of 1 3/4 tti headers to replace my old 1 3/4 headman b body headers. I also bought a 2 1/2 inch tti H pipe to replace my home built exhaust pipes and new tti 2 1/2 inch tailpipes to replace the factory 2 1/4 inch (2 inch at the tips) tailpipes. I was using Dynomax super...

    Exhaust tip inlet size

I just replaced mine. The tailpipes are 2 1/4 OD and they neck down to 2 inches OD at the tip. The factory tips went INSIDE the tailpipes, so they were actually something like 1 7/8 OD. My aftermarket ones were 2 inch ID so fit on the outside of the tailpipes.

    Exhaust tips

The last post shows the difference between the 69 dart style tips which are longer and have the hanger welded on the round section and the barracuda type which are shorter and have the hanger welded on the square outlet. For those of you possibly interested in mine, they are off the car now...
