I know there is some debate on that, but my car is still original paint, and they are definitely blacked out on mine. This is the best picture I have on my work computer.

So far, nearly every part I've installed has to be modified in some way. I'm learning the hard way that nothing is "bolt-on". Jim, that is exactly the same thing I tell everyone. Great progress by the way. Dave

It appears the rearend may still be set back a bit further than stock, which may be affecting your gas tank clearance. I know on my car the tires are closer to the front of the wheel opening, and yours seem perfectly centered.
