Thanks FABO. That means I just picked up 2 spare drums nearly for free. Yay me!

Rear drum question 7.25 vs 8.75

Not worried about the plates. They won't change from one rear to the other. Just wondering about the drums, themselves.

Rear drum question 7.25 vs 8.75

Are A body small bolt pattern 10 inch rear drums interchangeable between a 7.25 and an 8.75 rear. And yes, both rears are original A body rears.

    Getting confused

A side note here based on that pic of the proportioning valve from the Diplomat..... Be careful laying stuff on top of your battery. Looks like it was on top of the positive terminal. You do NOT want the thing to ground out on the negative terminal or the hold down or the inner fender......

Picture Of 10" rear Brakes 1966 Valiant

I'm with RRR on the interpretation. The OP asked how to get a pic of the brakes on his car. RRR - take a road trip to Long Island and pull his wheel and drum, take the pic, drive back to Georgia and post them here. If you pass the the north side of Baltimore at lunch time, I'll take a long...

    Disc Brake Conversion on A100

Can't answer for the hub thru the drum, but as for the studs... on my son's 65 B'cuda, we drilled the center of the stud out from the back sidejust a hair smaller than the stud diameter and deep enough to be past the swedging. Then we ground the remaining head off the back. Took a punch/drift...

Right front caliper froze up - recurring problem

Can't answer that JD. My wife is a good brake bleeder helper. It's the only thing she'll help me do in the garage..... At least she doesn't want to rearrange my tool box every 18 months like every other room in the house......lol

Right front caliper froze up - recurring problem

So it's on my 05 Ram... 6 months ago, rt frt caliper apparently froze up and toasted my pads and rotor. Do the brakes and all seemed well. A week ago, it froze up again. Like, tight enough when you let your foot of the brakes, the truck won't move at an idle. Another rebuilt caliper. This...

best all in one front disc brake kit for a 65 Dart

In reference to Scarebird, someone above said, "I don't think the factory rallye wheels fit." Jake and I did Scarbird on his 65 B'cuda. He is running SBP rallye wheels - Mopar wheels, not aftermarket/repro - up front. They fit fine. And yes, the kit is easy to install. Drilling the rotors...

    Drum color

Back in the day, like 35 yrs ago, my buddies and I painted ours red. I don't think they came painted on new cars back then.

Pedal goes to the floor... And i am stumped

Took the day off work. Got it figured out. Never messed with the rwal valve before, but see a bleeder on it. Bled from there - no change.... Rapid robert nailed it early on in this thread.... Pulled the new master off the new booster to check rod length. Using various methods of measuring, I...

Disc options for 73-76 drum spindle???

Scarebird? They are working well on Jake's 65 even without a power booster.

Pedal goes to the floor... And i am stumped

No, the truck didnt come home from vacation with me, it has lived with me since March of 89...lol. Rear brake adjust - very slight drag when turning the wheel by hand. Been that way forever every time i adjust them... Besides, the brakes worked just as they should prior to vacation. Got home...

Pedal goes to the floor... And i am stumped

Easy fellas.... and thanks to all who have opined here. I have plenty to try here, some of which i have done already and in the past on other vehicles... No it does not have a full abs system. It is an 89 Dakota and does have the RWAL valve near the rear as rmchrgr mentioned.. I put an MC on...

Replaced both, already. Will bave to maybe try another, as sometimes new parts are defective.

Pedal goes to the floor... And i am stumped

The issue started before i replaced the master. I went the expense of a new unit as opposed to old. No other brake work was done. Got home from vacation, got in the truck to move it out of the way and the pexal was low. Next day it went to the floor. Pads are nearly full lining, and appear to be...

Pedal goes to the floor... And i am stumped

yes. Power brakes. The pedal is so low, it's only about an inch off the floor at a normal stop. A hard stop puts the pedal on the floor.

Pedal goes to the floor... And i am stumped

If one of the hoses were failing, would i see it buldge/balloon out when the pedal is pushed?

Pedal goes to the floor... And i am stumped

So I have been chasing a floored brake pedal issue in the Shelby Dakota. Pedal went to the floor in the driveway - lucky me. Barely enough brake to hold it from rolling at idle. No leaks, master is full. Assumed bad master. Bought a new one. Bench bled, then bled at all 4 wheels until nothing...

How to check if a brake booster is good or not?

I have the opposite problem with my Shelby Dakota. Brake pedal is good and solid/hard when it is not running and goes to the floor when i start it up..... bled and re-bled them. Abslolutely no air in the lines...... I am thinking bad booster. I can hear it hissing at me from under the dash when...

how do i remove these drums?

Obviously the spiders living in there were holding them on upside down.....

Brakes went out on the Shelby Dakota....

That golden horseshoe my buddy swears is up my butt must still have a shine on it.... They went out in the driveway. Had 2 other vehicles blow a rusted out steal brake line in the driveway several years ago. When we got back from Disney a couple of weeks ago, jumped in the Shelby to move it...

    ok to convert 10 x 1 3/4 drums to 11 x 2 1/2 on '72 dart?

Thought so - thanks. Between the 11x2.5 out back and the 73 factory discs I'm putting up front, I should have no issues stopping the 383 I'm putting in.....one year in the not too distant future (I hope).....

    ok to convert 10 x 1 3/4 drums to 11 x 2 1/2 on '72 dart?

So if I understand this correctly, when I put 11x2.5" inch brakes on the rear of my 68 B'cuda when I swap in the 8-3/4... Swapping to 11 inch backing plates and drums from my parts stash, will not simply work with my original sbp axles if I re-drill them for bbp? I have not looked at it closely...

    So Scarebird it is!

You can buy them from scarebird pre-drilled, or save a bundle and buy them locally. You get a paper template and they are not as hard to drill as you might think.

    So Scarebird it is!

The only issue I had doing it to Jake's 65 was a small raised nub on the caliper hit the scarebird bracket - had to grind that nub off, being careful not to get it too hot and melt the seals in the caliper. Hindsight says to grind a clearance notch in the bracket instead.

    Scarebird Conversion

Did Scarebird on Jake's 65. Probably higher quality aftermarket stuff avail, but on a part time high-school budget last year, it was very affordable for Jake to buy in pieces. Came in at about 250-275. We also upgraded to a dual pot master for a manual disc later model dart. Been driving it for...
