Advice asked for widthening rims on a 70 Duster

If you want to find a decent selection of tire sizes, ditch the 14" tires. Pretty much obsolete these days.

    Maximizing BFG Radial T/A Traction

    Freaking beautiful duster!

    Maximizing BFG Radial T/A Traction

Regardless of the tire pressure, those tires are probably the worse tire in existence for traction. They look cool though

Converting From 6 Lug TO 5 Lug Wheels On A Dakota

I believe it is, I know for sure the front is just a rotor swap, easy bolt on

73 Duster with Cragar V-5 Black Steelies

My thought was "4x4" when I saw it, like I mentioned earlier, but maybe the new "in" fad with "stance" is to look that way, who knows.

    Demon Rear Wheels

    I've never had or seen a duster that COULDN'T fit a 275/60/15...

I dunno if he's a genius, but everything he said is true in this case.

    Should I paint rims black?

A set of cragers would look period correct too, and add some "pop"

    Should I paint rims black?

Be careful, someone might call you a "purist"

    Wheels

All you really need is spindles and upper controll arm, the rest can be bought at most any parts store. Not expensive really

    Wheels

Hard to find good, modern tires for handling in a 15 inch anymore, so going BBP allows a much larger selection of tires in 17 inch and larger sizes....

2016 Mustang rims? For 74 Duster

Just cause it's common, doesn't make it look good, imo.... they are very flat, no dish, just looks out of place

2016 Mustang rims? For 74 Duster

Looks stupid on a vintage car, and way to expensive

Free US Mags...will they work for me?

I run 15x8 with 3 1/2 backspace on the rear of my duster, and had to trim the outer 1/4 panel lip. Your fronts would look a bit odd to me being that wide.

Pics of pro-touring Duster with 20s?

The beige duster/demon of 72bluNblu and the Kenny wayne sheppard duster are the only two in this thread that look decent IMO. Stance looks good, with none of the goofy offsets that most people put on there car.

Installed the 18" Wheels on the Duster

Makes the front look a lot wider than the back, tread width wise.....kinda looks odd to me, not trying to bash on your car, just sayin

    Alum slot rim id??

They made them in all sorts of bolt patterns, its pretty obvious from the tape measure picture, they are NOT 5 on 4 1/2

Need your opinion on these Cragars

Aero wheels are very decently priced, you can get 15x8 in silver or black for about 60 bucks, chrome for about 80 from places like speedway motors, day motorsports, summit racing ect. A big benefit with race wheels, is you have backspace choices...

Need your opinion on these Cragars

Most were painted back then, but some ran chrome wheels, like petty in 73 at Daytona, theres all kinds of pics with that car sporting chrome wheels.

Need your opinion on these Cragars

Each to his own, but even the "stock car look" would look a lot better with a chrome wheel.

    That modern look....

I seen it, it didn't rub cause it looked like it had no suspension travel to speak of. You can do the same thing with a go kart. Looks like they both handle similar..

    That modern look....

Is that demon the one that theres a you tube video of it running in a parking lot cone race deal? Looked like it was riding around on bumpstops.......

yearone rally wheels on an abody

That's a pretty BAD way to gain clearance, if you need to lay the top of the tire in 1/2 inch to not rub, your going to have excessive negative camber, and it will be a good way to wear your tires uneven. I would get the correct offset wheels and call it done.

yearone rally wheels on an abody

This is incorrect as has already been pointed out. The BBP disk brakes are wider than the SBP disc brakes on the 72 and older cars, that's the only thing I know of that widen the front track width. Ever notice cars with the BBP disc swaps tires always stick out wider? Looks goofy in my opinion..
