    Tuning issue on a 440

70 polara with 3.23 gears.... Heavy with tall gears under load isn't going to be as octane friendly. Try the 12/32. Sounds like you are really close to a working tune.

    Tuning issue on a 440

Assuming you checked total at RPM, you had 16/36. If it pinged at this setting, the next thing to do is make sure you are running premium fuel (91-93) and pull the timing back to 14/34, re-test

    Tuning issue on a 440

There should be no question on total timing. After locking the dizzy, you rev and check total advance. i'd recomend marking it on your balencer. Makes setting timing easier if you pull the dizzy for any reason.

    Tuning issue on a 440

Pull the vacum advance and see what it does. 10 degrees of advance at 4400 should run fine even if you set the base to 24 degrees or more, IF the vacuum advance is disconnected. I think your VA is coming in too much, too soon or yielding too much total timing.
  8. roccodart440

    Tuning issue on a 440

Unplug the vacum advance. Set the timing to 36 total. Use premium fuel (91+) and test drive it. LEt us know what happens. NOte: to set total timing you have to rev it until the light line stops moving, which can be 3,500+

100 shot of nitrous on 360 magnum engine

According to NOS, any V8 will safely take a 150 shot if fueled and tuned properly.

Timing curve for my big-cam 451?

I'd like to see the timing in earlier as well. Personally on a street driven car I'd like to see all of the timing in at cruise RPM, in your case, 3,000RPM. 27 initial, 35 total seems ballpark. YOu may need a better starter, a better battery or a start retard to make your dreams come true...

You want a wide LSA with forced induction and NO2. Here are a few crane cams that are worth taking a look at. Number CRN-691191 CRN-694561 CRN-699641 CRN-693801

    I CAN’T DRIVE 145mph

Have you ever done this? IT makes sense for aero and for cooling.

    I CAN’T DRIVE 145mph

If you weren't at redline it's a power issue. I mean aerodynamics obviously hold you back but our cars are flying bricks so refer back to my first line.

    a body rear end ? 8 3/4 vs dana 60

I used to believe that total BS too.... Trust me it makes ZERO difference and I have the cars to prove it in both variations. One just costs a shitload more than the other to accomplish. Purple car was moved back 1.5" and the silver one has the stock wheelbase with modded quarters. Both cars...

I moved mine back 1.5" and have the aluminum cover. I had to notch my tank.

    a body rear end ? 8 3/4 vs dana 60

    1. Stock tank. However moving the rear back required notching the tank to clear rear. Stock position was fine. 2. Out the back, to bumper 3. 600-650 at the crank off the spray 4. ? 5. A comparable 8.75 costs about 5200$ from strange. About 2,000 more than a comparable dana. 6. I run an S60 with...

    a body rear end ? 8 3/4 vs dana 60

I'd believe this. My dana weighs the same as a stock 8.75.
  24. roccodart440

    a body rear end ? 8 3/4 vs dana 60

I narrowed my dana as far as you physically can with a mini tub. That requires a 3.5" backspace wheel. But like 72nblu said, you need to buy your wheels and then select your rear end width.

    440 rods

The most highly developed four-stroke engines in the world-F1 and motorcycle engines-have rod ratios of more than 2:1, but If you have a 2:1 rod ratio you have a bunch of dwell. So you also have an engine that wants higher piston/engine speeds.

First time swapping edelbrock aluminum for 915 cast iron heads.

I run 11.70's @160psi cranking compression. static 10:1. [email protected], 112LSA. (and it is anything but soft on the bottom) It makes 550ft/lbs at 3500rpm and goes idle to 3500 like cracking a whip. I'm definitely leaving power on the table in several areas, cam, combustion chamber volume, tires...
