    Tire/wheel sizing issues

Took some time tonight and removed the spacers that were lifting the rear housing up from the SS springs. They were 1 1/2" tall. With these out it looks as though the 15x8" with 5.5 bs and 28x9.5 slicks look like they will be ok. Im going to roll the dice at this point and hope it works out. Rod

    Tire/wheel sizing issues

Alan, even if i bought another housing selling mine and shipping it (cause nobody close ever needs what you need to sell) would be a pain and it would still be expensive. Plus with the street tires i can only narrow by 3/4" each side because of inner clearance at frame as you can see on my pics...

    Tire/wheel sizing issues

Im putting this in this forum because it is more general then just being suspension or early A body. I doubt if i'm the first person to ever run into this problem and I'm sure there are many different ways to solve this. I'm building a 66 Dart that has an 8 3/4" rear. Stock A-body dimensions...

    Tire Balancing

On my Hunter balancer I can choose to balance them static or dynamically. In the dynamic mode I can choose a location just inside the tire outer bead (hidden from site) and also on the inner bead rim areas. I find that the best way to get a true balance is to use both outer rim beads to mount...

    Drag Radials vs Slicks

I went to check out the Hoosier Slicks I had mentioned in my earlier post. They are a D06 material where I misquoted saying D05. They have 6/32 of rubber left on them and are in very good shape. I gave him $80 for the pair. The only thing I am not sure of is the age as they didnt have a marking...

    Drag Radials vs Slicks

Once I was reading that drag radials dont work well on 4 spd trans I thought that a higher stall convertor would also create some issues as well. Thanks for the first hand info 1qwikscamp. This is a great education so far. Looking forward to hearing from others. Please continue to add any...

    Drag Radials vs Slicks

Many have said that drag radials dont work with a 4 spd trans. Im going to be running an automatic but it will have a 3200 dynamic stall convertor. I get the feeling that drag radials dont hook well from a higher RPM launch. Has anyone run drag radials then slicks on the same vehicle to see if...

    Drag Radials vs Slicks

Suspension has been modified with welded in frame connectors, ss springs, spring relocation 3" in and tubbed. Rear of body will sit just above rear rim with most of tire in fender well. Rear snubber. Drag adjustable shocks. Currently I have a 3:91 8 3/4" rear. Also has roll bar welded in as well...

    Drag Radials vs Slicks

Not sure if I should have posted this in the racers forum or not. I am trying to decide if I should buy slicks or drag radials. I plan on racing my car a few times (3 -4) a year and I already have new BFG tires all the way around. Rears are 295/50R15 and is mini tubbed. Im going to buy an...

will 17x11 wheel fit between my frame rail and body...

I have an early A dart as well that I mini tubbed. I have just under 14" inches for tires. Make sure you measure and pick the correct backspacing when choosing your wheels. There are some great instruction on weld wheels website as to how to measure so you get it right the first time. Post some...
