Sorry to revisit an old debate but...

Thanks man! It's not running fine, in fact it's been barely running for years now. I just can't bring myself to put on any of the replacement parts til the body is fixed, and in the meantime it's just deteriorating. I think I may just park it again and bust out the Fiat until I've finally got...

Sorry to revisit an old debate but...

So it seems, because I don't have a garage nor the money to just pay someone to do it (my knowledge is also still quite basic, even if I had the tools) I'm going to keep the slant. Since it needs to be pulled apart anyway I'm going to get a cam, mill the head, probably need to change valves too...

Sorry to revisit an old debate but...

It's getting closer and closer to the time to pull my Scamp's /6 and get the body done and car painted. Do I keep the six which I have a 390cfm holley 4bbl, offenhauser intake, and headers for (although not installed). Engine has 45k miles on it but is definitely not mint, and I know the power...

    SLANT 6 a GAS GUZZLER?

I thought my scamp was getting about 24 on the highway til I found out the odometer was off 10%, it actually gets about 22 which isn't bad.

    Turbo question

Figure I'll piggy back on this post since it's getting me interested in the idea. I have a 225 /6 with a 4bbl going on it. What would I need to do to my engine IF I were to do a turbo? It's otherwise bone stock, and I don't want to do anything crazy.

If the aluminum ones are only 88lbs, how much are the iron ones?!

Hyper Pak Intake with 350cfm 2bbl To much for a 225 Street Slant Six?

I concur. The equal length runners will make a huge difference. I still say though, if you're making it only a street car, then why not just get an offenhauser intake or something else that isn't $400? You can get those for $100-$200 easily.

Hyper Pak Intake with 350cfm 2bbl To much for a 225 Street Slant Six?

If you're simply streeting it, perhaps seek out an offenhauser intake or something of the like, no need to spend the money on a hyper pak. If money is of no concern though, go for it. I'd say, perhaps a small 4bbl, like a 390cfm, so that way you run on the primaries most of the time, and when...

WANTED ! HEMI 6 (Austrialian market)

It was an overhead valve engine, and put out 165hp and 235 ft-lb of torque. I'd be interested in seeing a swap, and how it's done. Not that I'd ever do it myself, just curious. I'd like to see the 6-pak ones too. The bigger ones put out 203-302hp.

    SLANT 6 a GAS GUZZLER?

Glad to see things work out! Also, I'm going to take mine out on the highway soon, see how it does. I'm getting 18mpg (UK) in the city easily, let's see how she does on the highway!

    SLANT 6 a GAS GUZZLER?

Thanks man. I'll be checking them out, however there is a guy in town who might be giving me one for a really good deal, so I may check into that, if that doesn't pan out.

    SLANT 6 a GAS GUZZLER?

I've gotten 22mpg on the highway before, but that was when it was in desperate need of a tuneup. I've ditched the electric fan idea though, think I'm going to go with a clutch fan. Anyone know what sort of stuff I'll need for the conversion?

    SLANT 6 a GAS GUZZLER?

Well I did the electronic ignition already, waiting to get headers so I can do the exhaust and put on a 390CFM 4bbl holley (with offy intake). Looking at doing an electric fan conversion too. Anyone else have ideas on how else to improve performance and mileage?

    SLANT 6 a GAS GUZZLER?

What sort of stuff have you done to yours? I'm very interested to hear, as I'll probably end up doing it too.

    SLANT 6 a GAS GUZZLER?

Anyone here ever fuel injected a slant six? I bet that would help mileage. I also heard you can use the fuel injection from a buick V6.

If you had $2K to play with...

Get the exhaust opened up, a 390CFM holley 4bbl and an intake manifold. If you have money left over, perhaps shave the head and do a cam&valves. Maybe do a rad too?

    SLANT 6 a GAS GUZZLER?

Where'd you get the electric fan? Mine is getting 18mpg at best after a massive tuneup in my '72 scamp. Timing still needs to be adjusted though. I was done to about 14-15mpg before I got rid of my dying distributor and switched to electronic ignition.

In need of some dual exhaust headers

Still looking for headers, preferably long tube but won't be picky. Anyone?

is there a carb for this?

    oops, double post

is there a carb for this?

Pick up a 390cfm 4 bbl. Mine's a holley, and you really don't want too much carburetion. Also, you'll need a manifold, and want to open up to some bigger exhaust, that's the biggest help. I also read there's a buick V6 you can get the fuel injection off of that works perfectly, can't remember...

In need of some dual exhaust headers

Where'd you get it, and for how much? Also, it's an automatic. I'll go clifford if I can't find anything locally/online.

In need of some dual exhaust headers

I have a 72 Scamp with the 225 slant six in it, I've got a 390CFM holley 4bbl I want to put on, and I have the intake already, but before I do this, I'm going to need some headers. Been looking around, and clifford ones are ~$350cdn and hooker ones are between $650 and $850cdn. Anyone able to...
