I’ve had those size tires on my car for over 25 years and driven over 40 000 miles. Right or wrong, I’m just giving my personal experience with 245’s on the rear of a ‘69 Dart, that’s all.

Please let us know if acetone works better than brake cleaner.

I've found you have to soak a large spot on a rag and keep moving to a clean section of the soaked rag as the brown comes off the letters.

I bought a set of 4 BFG's at the same time. The two 215/70/14's have bright white raised letters that hardly ever need cleaning and never have gone brown. The two 245/60/14's have letters that within two weeks go dark brown. It's really weird. I've tried just about every product out there and...

I think I like the rallyes better on your Dart.

I run 245/60/14 B.F Goodrich radial T/As on the rear of my '69 Dart on 14x5.5 inch factory rallye wheels (small bolt pattern) with no issues.

Can you post a picture of how they turned out using the scotchbrite pad?

Anyone have any experience, feedback, suggestions, opinions or sources of new aftermarket 14" brushed rallye wheel trim rings to fit a 5.5 inch wide rim? Has anyone purchased the Classic Industries brushed reproductions? If so, do they look like the originals? Thanks

The 245/60/4 rear and 215/70/14 front is the best combo for the Dart. I'm running 235/60/14 rear and 215/60/14 front. There is more room for 245 width in the rear from the 235 and the 60 series tires in front leaves too much of the wheel well opening exposed. I have looked at a ton of Dart...

If you want a cheaper alternative to whitewall tires, look at buying a set of Portawalls. They are an insert that goes between the tire and rim that really look like a whitewall. I have a set on my '66 Bug. Check it out at Portawalls.com
