make sure the air door is adjusted properly, if it bogs you may have to increase spring tension. If when the engine is off you should be able to manually push down on the secondary air door, if you can't someone bent the wrong linkage trying to adjust the choke vacuum break. Get an overhaul...

I would definitely run a PCV system on a street car just so you wouldn't have to smell the oil fumes.
