    back to post # 6 you said max hp was at 4400 rpm that's way off with that cam in a 383 should be closer to 6000rpm so is your carb getting open all the way? someone could of installed the cam on the advance dots that are on some timing sets and didn't dial it in. are the secondary's opening up...

    looking at you cam peak power at 4400 ish that is a two barrel range cam are you sure the carb is opening up all the way or the cam was installed way advanced?

    set the engine timing higher try it at 10deg btdc do you know what it is set at?

    double check your timing it might be too late at a higher rpm just switch the vacuum line on dist vacuum advance to carb vacuum not manifold to test and see if it helps

    gee post 15 had the same results ,could of saved a lot of time for a 5 min check and I have seen it many times on other cars with cable or electric shift controls but its always the carb too small too big ect.

    you said it feels better when you hold it in gear longer so does it still bog down or is it a slight improvement ,does it go into passing gear when you step on it or does it just stay in 3 gear at 30mph lugging the engine down you had to correct your throttle cable did you readjust the kick...

    Its the moly rings used today they are soft just look at one of them and you will see little flakes missing on the sealing surface ,plus a different bore finish (smother).
