    did you check pinion run out / I have seen the yoke end bent , a sign is a leaking pinion seal . when I ran the sure grip the car would go deeper into the corner but got a little loose coming out with power transferring back between the left/right wheels, tried changing the stagger but no help...

    I usually tighten bearing until tight but you can still turn the tire easily/then back off until there is play about .003 play then tighten nut 1/4 turn and lock it / never had a problem and I've done thousands this way .

    A trans might have blown before and metal was in the lines so some times they put a filter mostly a screen inside the line heading back to the trans.

    sounds like its set up too tight or the pinion bearing is loose taking out the gear clearance causing them to lock up

    you need to find out or figure out what camshaft is in your engine a compression test from a cylinder might help figure it out if your compression is 10.5 to 1

    my 73 duster with a 225/ has a 2.40 rear gear 7.25" with a 904 auto. and its not bad off the line.

    you will need to weld plates over the spring seats and drill new holes for the spring center pins the f bodys use rubber insulators around the springs mounts, and the spring seats are wider as is the drum to drum measurement, so might need to cut off the spring mount and move them closer.

    you might want to check for rusted up wheel cylinders that don't return or brakes adjusted too tight and dragging shoes .take a temp gun and shoot all the wheels and see if one is hotter then the outhers

    how did you figure the 3.07 gear I don't think they go any lower then 3.55.most dana 70 are 4.10 automatic trans ,3.73 with low first gear with a 16/17 inch tire
