I believe you succeeded in that endeavor.

    best distributor for the buck

Pretty clean install Matt To the OP: Best bang for the buck IMO: The factory distributor works great, buy one; buy the timing curve disc from FBO as mentioned in the thread from 4secondsflat.com for future tuning flexibility, and the HEI conversion as mentioned by moparmatt2000...or fab your...

    71 Dart overcharging

67dart273's instructions helped me diagnose the overcharging in my '72 Scamp with the voltage drop test; I'd never encountered that issue before so it was very helpful to have the expertise at your beckon call...found out there was a 2V drop between the ignition switch and the battery, which...

    Voltage regulator

Del's correct-his method helped me chase an overcharge condition on my Scamp-turns out the voltage loss in the ignition circuit is the culprit, but I elected to run an ignition relay circuit to run full battery voltage to the voltage regulator rather than swapping the ignition switch...worked...

    1157 tail light sockets

No **** lol! If I were doing something from the ground up-scratch, maybe...otherwise, I was trying to avoid that... I didn't think about cannibalizing them-but that probably should work sufficiently. Much appreciated y'all

    1157 tail light sockets

Hmmm http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pco-5421pt/overview/ Think something like this may work? I don't have the assemblies right in front of me, so...

    1157 tail light sockets

Thanks for all the replies! Well, that was a problem; he got the bulbs out, and now even after copious amounts of lube and exercising the springs in the socket, the contact plate is just seized and the socket is all kinds of corroded. They are very much available, but they're more...

    1157 tail light sockets

Has anyone run into a set of tail light bulb sockets that were so seized they couldn't be used? If so, how did you or how would you go about replacing them? My brother's '72 Scamp is in need of some type of remedy for this and from what I recall, those sockets are essentially permanent in...

That looks awesome dude! I wish my brother would swing down through Sea-Tac area from Lake Stevens for car shows and get some inspiration to go work on his '72 Scamp...

sitting on fence about amp meter

This has nothing to do with sky falling...it's age and environment vs less than ideal execution of wiring principles and components. I'm overjoyed for anyone whose original wiring and gauges haven't failed them yet. But I'm on board with making the small modification of bypassing the ammeter...

    HEI in a Mopar?

I'll give that a try-I thought it was mounted solidly, but I'll check it out. And yes, the sound is emanating from the coil...I can hear it best when my ear is right next to it

    HEI in a Mopar?

No worries-I might just relocate the thing if I can't deal with the noise.

    HEI in a Mopar?

I wholeheartedly agree...I hate chasing down wiring issues.

    HEI in a Mopar?

...just seems odd, I don't think I've ever really been able to so easily hear a coil actually firing. I had an MSD in my Mustang that let out a faint high pitch noise, but it was so light you could barely detect it...this thing is definitely noticeable, well to me anyway.

    HEI in a Mopar?

I thought the cap was only to dampen/eliminate RF noise? FWIW, the wiring is as close to the body as it can be...

    HEI in a Mopar?

Not to interrupt you guys, but I've noticed something since I drove the car yesterday and today (weather's been nice), I detected a very low intensity electrical noise-not through the stereo, but if I lean over the coil and listen, I can actually hear it firing...never heard anything like that...

New alternater & voltage reg - not charging

And hopefully you found a reputable and reliable parts outlet so you don't have to second guess everything they give you in the future.

    HEI in a Mopar?

Don't I know it, man. I'm not upset about the connector, I just wanted to give raw feedback to anyone considering upgrading-it's certainly well worth the cost and even though I'm not great at wiring, I can read and interpret a diagram and do a little soldering...not my strong suit, but I bet a...

    HEI in a Mopar?

Got the HEI kit installed today, took my time and had it all installed in about an hour after having some issues with soldering the power wire. I also installed some new plugs, gapped them at .045" and fired it up. First time it fired up quick but, as the directions stated, if it runs crappy...

    HEI in a Mopar?

I'm not frightened by wiring and splices, just hadn't seen any wiring diagrams on how to make it all work, or what all parts were required, and I was soliciting opinions. I did some more searching and saw a couple folks who commented that the factory HEI module suffered similar issues as the...

    HEI in a Mopar?

That's kinda what I figured Del, I knew I'd read of folks installing the parts but didn't recall seeing any kind of description or wiring diagram on how to go about it. There may be a possibility of using aftermarket EFI in the future, but that's gonna be a while. If it's a quick afternoon...
