    clearing big wheels?

Your right on the wheel center hole being to small. I've been using Crown Vic 16" wheels and tried a late 80's Lincoln LSC 16" wheel and in both cases only a minor amount of material, about a 16th (.06) around the circumference, had to be removed for them to fit over the Mopar hub center. It was...

Help me out with 5x4 pattern wheels please!

There was a "show you wheels" thread that may answer some of your questions. A lot of good info there.

Safe to use Wheel Adapters 5 on 4" to 4.5"?

I agree with most of what others have said on here, especially about corporate policies to limit their liability. In the '60's and '70's most adapters were cast aluminum and those are unsafe In my opinion. I'm using the newer billet spacers and have had no issues in the 60K miles I've put on them.

What are these center caps and wheels?

Wanted to ad those are mopar wheels of some type. Ford plain steel wheels will be stamped with a "fomoco" inside an oval shaped outline somewhere and their center hole has to be opened up to fit the mopar axle registers and brake disks. The original application is anyones guess. If they are 15x7...

What are these center caps and wheels?

Doug371 and bulldozer got it right in my book. "Worth" and "Sells" are two very different things. Several of the large national NOS vendors show these in their stock and they are priced from $100-$130 ea. Can't say if they sell at that price. Currently on Ebay there is a pair for $60 that are...

Wrong wheel size of Summit and / or Jegs wheels

I guess I don't fully comprehend. If you ordered one thing and got another they ought to pay return freight. If you ordered an item and received exactly that item their position makes more sense.

Wrong wheel size of Summit and / or Jegs wheels

If you received them recently enough I'd complain, send pics etc. They might want to fix their error to avoid the bad review on yelp for example. If they've been on the shelf for awhile I would not hold out any hope but it's worth a try. I say this because I had a set of five spoke alcoa star...

Bullitt Wheels - How to open up bore?

@Ian McCrimmon - I like your idea a lot. In my instance the cost of a router and bit makes my simpler, though less precise method, more cost effective. But if OP already has a router.........best of both worlds. There have been other threads about hub centric vs. lug centric wheels on this...

Bullitt Wheels - How to open up bore?

@Haney - My bit was not stepped as you typed and (my poor memory) it was actually 2.5" diameter I just went and checked. I did notice that with so little clearance in the centerhole for the bit that I had to really keep the stone pressed hard against the rim. A couple of times in the beginning...

Bullitt Wheels - How to open up bore?

@garretellison - Your idea would likely work also. I did find that because these wheels are aluminum, the stone tended to load up with material and I had to re-dress the stone after each wheel or two. This might be the downside to using a finer stone than the course type I used.

Bullitt Wheels - How to open up bore?

Forgot to post photos. Agree with 67dart273 that the necessity of a perfect hub centric fit is over-blown based on the same experiences he had over the years.

Bullitt Wheels - How to open up bore?

I agree with prior posters that machine shop is the ideal place for this modification. However, I have modified both Lincoln LSC and Crown Vic alloys with my drill motor and a 2.75" diameter cone shaped bit I bought on Ebay. With it's larger diameter it's easier to control the amount of material...

    Show your wheels

@halfafish - no PM you may need to resend. Some restoration candidates still out there, but not many clean ones and very few 2drs or wagons, mostly 4drs. Out in the west here cars are generally driven to death. With virtually no structural rust issues nor yearly inspections they get used and...

    Show your wheels

Stumbled across this thread an decided to add my pic. I'm using 15x6, '79 Cordoba 300 wheels on my driver Valiant. Used billet adapters on my SBP bubs. Adapters are thick enough, and moved the wheel/tire combo away from the drum far enough that I had to run a smaller diameter tire than I would...

Bolt pattern size, big and small?

I believe those torque thrust wheels are a later, modern era, wheel because they have the aluminum, lower profile center caps. If they are a modern era wheel they are definitely a 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern. The vintage torque thrusts used a plastic center cap with a different mounting pattern. I...

    centerline front runners

I got the new tire removed yesterday and was able to literally remove the old silicone intact, as a ring. Not one bit of it was actually stuck to the wheel. So it is now easy to understand why it was not holding air. I'll be cleaning and prepping per your suggestions today and hopefully all...

    centerline front runners

Thanks for the replies. I was able to contact centerline directly in Santa Fe Springs. CA, and they confirmed a common problem on older wheels. For $25 (labor only) they'd reseal it. They said it is just regular silicone sealant, nothing special, and that preparation was the key to success.

    centerline front runners

I recently bought a pair of small bolt centerline front runners and one leaks air out from the center hub area where the two center parts come together with the tires mounted. Rims have no damage to indicate abuse and run true. I noticed that there was a heavy bead of sealant (silicone?) down in...

    Valiant rims

I'm not into these big wheel combos, however I can offer you some advice. Your cars limitation is the rear. I run a 32" overall diameter tire and it just clears. It rubs slightly on the inner wheelhouse if one wheel is up and the other is down like going up a driveway. You can look up tire data...
