    1965 Dart headliner bows!

Does the color daubbed sides of bows always go on left or right side ? Appreciate it's not critical for reassembly but was curious.

    1965 Valiant Wagon Tail lights

20 years ago I had this problem and could not find them then. Ended up installing 1960 Chevy Impala/Biscayne lenses. Worked quite well but obviously not restoration correct. I can't remember anybody ever noticing they were incorrect. Best of luck on your search.

    1966 barracuda rear end

I can't imagine anyone trading a desirable 8.25 rear for a 7.25 rear that most folks can't give away. It's equivalent to trading gold for lead. Nothing is impossible though, but to give yourself a chance you should post in the "parts wanted" section.

What oil filter adapter do I need for a 340 in a 1964 plymouth valiant.

Question: are the Direct Connection aftermarket aluminum filter adapters a true 90° like the early iron units or slightly angled like later units ? @JDMopar - you mentioned using angled adapter hits frame rail on early A cars. You're pics show a large filter (PH8A?). Would interference still...

    sway bar

I agree with many posters comments. Many older parts are getting hard to find. Best fitting rear bar I've ever found is from an AMC Concorde. I even use the AMC end link brackets. Only one diameter was made unfortunately. I've also had good luck with 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird rear bars. End link...

    1964 signal light lever

You can bolt almost any lever on from '62- 80's car and truck. While useable they are not identical. Different lengths for different steering wheel diameters. Different bend angles for different steering wheel depths. For best fit I'd limit my choices to '62 - '66 because they all used the same...

Correct 1962 Valiant Dash Knobs Color?

Originally these knobs were an unusual light translucent color (wish I knew what to call the '62 color) See pic. with white '61 knob on left and opaque '62 heater button on right to show color difference. Always worth a good scrubbing with a toothbrush and comet before painting/replacement. You...

    clutch fork replacement in car

I agree with others. Throw out fork pivots are different over the years and the forks are therefore different. Fork needs to match the pivot style in the bell housing. The trans year, even type, is irrelevant.

    1962 Valiant Signet 200

The interior lock mechanism is there. It involves moving the interior door handle forward to lock it, rearward to open it. However, in most cases locking the door before closing it usually results in it unlocking itself. I've always had to lock my early cars with the key from the outside after...

    62 lancer front bench

@ slantsix - agree on comments on older style split bench. More modern cars with a split bench are fully split. To me they are just wide buckets that touch. @ Dart66GT - any "A" body split bench seat from '61 to '66 will fit. Having the '62 specific seat tracks makes it a simple bolt in job...

    62 lancer front bench

There is a split bench seat for Lancers. All '62 "A" body 2 drs except Lancer GT and Valiant Signet had a split bench. I'm not sure if there is any weight savings.

An easier way to tell which engine you have is to try to try and place your hand between the front most exhaust manifold runner and the block directly behind the waterpump. Pass you whole hand thru easily, a 225. Can barely pass a standard diameter pencil thru, a 170. If you have a 170 it is not...

1962 Valiant Suspension/Brake Swap Options with other A-bodies

The front spring eye bolt is a smaller size than later "A" bodies on the '60 -'62 cars. I do not know what specific year it was increased. It was easy enough to redrill the '62 front leaf spring mounting bracket to accept the larger bolt. I recently upgraded my '62 driver with a pair of '74 V8...

1960 Valiant Universal Turn Signal Install

I have a good used one for $75 shipped. Drove car, worked fine but is not new. Rare that these go bad. More common is the pot metal holder that the signal switch screws to breaks and the signal lever seeming flops around. I'd pull the steering wheel to confirm you actually need the switch or the...

    Early A-Bodies

I agree that the early "A"s don't get a lot of respect. And agree with others that it just doesen't matter. exhaust woes ......1973 340 into a 1965 barracuda

M understanding was that only the 68-69 340 left manifold will work on these early cars. Have a set of 273 manifolds for sale if you go that route. They will definitely clear. Abodyjoes endorsement of the Spitfife headers performance improvement has me rethinking using them on my next conversion.

‘60 Valiant inside Door handle clip removal Tool

Tough to find but not necessary. An 1/8" thick piece of flat stock a couple inches long with about a 20- 30 degree bend in the last 1/4 inch will allow you to depress the retaining tang. you'll actually want to push the tang toward the mounting shaft, keeping it depressed while wiggling the...

    Early A body front end

As 65 Cuda 340 mentioned, the later BBP disk brakes move the wheel mounting face out board about a half inch per side. Because of this wheel backspacing becomes more critical. As many others noted there are still many wheel types and tire sizes that will clear.

Picked up a bunch of parts. Help identify what?

The squareish instrument cluster is a Dodge/Plymouth "C" body '67? - '71?. There was/is a police 140 mph version that I've modified to fit the '73 - '76 "A" body instrument clusters. Also a '65 Valiant cluster (twin round holes) and a '64 Dart cluster. Great pick !!

Nicely done. Those lenses remind me of Ford Falcon/Fairlane lenses except for the red center. Clutch pedal assy into a 62 lancer

I could see the need for reinforcing the "Z" bar if you're using a beefed up Borg and Beck style clutch. I've seen them fail in high mileage cars with little abuse and lots of use. With modern HP diaphram clutches I would think their would be less of a necessity to reinforce this item. Am I...

    Rear Sway Bars

Lots of good advice being given. Agree strongly that for top notch handling you should approach it as a system. The valiant patrol car in my avatar came with a factory rear sway bar and it oversteers (rear end loses grip and swings out trying to pass the front end, ala drifter style) nicely. I...
