    Vin trouble

That 5th digit can't be an "0" I think aspens started with N, volares started with an H I could have that reversed. Haven't looked at the vin on mine lately. Looks like you bought a 78 Aspen. 5th digit is a letter that designates original engine size. Sure it isn't a "c" which would mean a...

Best Alternator to give sufficient juice to the MSD 6AL ?

They used the same voltage regulator for all of the factory equipped alternators into the 90s, I remember my 89 diplomat had that same regulator even though it had the same alternator as my sons 89 ramcharger, which was controlled by the computer on the first efi/TBI trucks. ( No more computer...

Best Alternator to give sufficient juice to the MSD 6AL ?

Could also go with the factory Mopar 100a as used from the mid 70s on. Those did have different brackets though. They were rated higher right off of idle than the smaller Mopar alternators. But again if the system is only calling for 17 amps even a newer car's 180 amp alternator will only...

Best Alternator to give sufficient juice to the MSD 6AL ?

A 78a stock alternator as listed for an 80s Dodge would be plenty. And looks like your 70s alternator. Bolts right in, hooks up the same too

    MOPAR Dead?

I've never owned a wrong wheel drive (front wheel drive) anything and don't plan on it. Same sentiment for a glorified golf cart... I hear more and more stories recently about them not getting near the range as claimed ( which in and of itself is still far too short) I have a 70 mile daily...

    MOPAR Dead?

I'm tired of things being shoved down our throats. Things like front wheel drive, sideways engines, 4 door pickup with ridiculously short useless beds, too high sidewalls, these days what new "car" can you buy/everything is a wanna be "suv", "crossover, whatever you want to call them...

    MOPAR Dead?

Almost certainly political. I almost gave up on them when they only had FWD cars available. I wish they'd bring back the B van just as it was when they discontinued it. Along with the 2 door b body. Not "modernized".

BAD MECHANICS - Thermostat and Radiator Fan Blade

Small block? There's usually at least one pipe plugged off port in the intake that could be used. But as long as the bulb lead (I'm assuming mechanical gauges since that's what I use) into the block drain? Once the engine is up to temp the water should be the same temp anywhere in the system. (...

1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

I've heard that the frame cracking there was what killed a bunch of those trucks. Though I've never seen one for myself. The only one I've ever seen was an older (63) town panel wagon that my cousin had, a previous owner had swapped in a400 from a later c body, and what a hack job it was. The...

What size spacer best for heat soak slant 6 Carter

What size spacer best for heat soak slant 6 Carter

There's a guy on feebay (a regular member on the /6 site as well) that sells a phenolic spacer for a BBD that's about the same thickness as the "thick" fiber gasket that used to be used with these carbs as stock. He's "badvert65" on the /6 site, everything he sells on feebay ends in "$xx.65"...

mini starter diameter compared to earlier starters

The 3250 looks like the typical Mopar starter, looks also just like a 3257 or 3258. Of those two I know the difference (3257 is the 1.5hp, the 3258 is the 1.8hp), don't know what difference between these and 3250

mini starter diameter compared to earlier starters

I was just gonna say something about somebody (anybody) posting a pic of the 2 side x side. Of the old style Mopar starters there were 2 different sizes of them, the 1.5 hp and a 1.8 hp, the 1.8 was, as I remember about a 1/2" longer case . Of those 2, the 1.5 was the "whinier" of them, had...

    Engine swap?

I also have an extra drool tube head, besides, that could go with. Best of all worlds. The engine I have is a late model cast crank (can rev faster due to less centrifugal force to spin vs forged) and the drool tube heads were the lightest of the heads used on the /6 over the years haha.....

    Engine swap?

Ive sent you 2 pms about an engine that you could drop in and go with, only needing the centering ring for the older converter snout..... 1964 Valiant wheel allignment

machine operator is an idiot. When I did alignments I could set up inches or degrees, or fractional/decimal, by pushing a few buttons. My co workers would get mad at me, we had 2 identical Hunter alignment machines and our previous machine was set up solely in fractional degrees instead of...
