    Crankcase Evac Pump

Decided to put a vac pump on the small block too.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

We were able to sneak the vac pump in under the alternator. Custom bracket off the timing chain cover. I will post more pics when I get things buttoned up and plumbed. Tight fit ....real tight.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Got my PM clear now. I think we are gonna make it work. Using 2 of the timing chain cover bolts to tie in the brackets. I just need to find a turnbuckle to triangulate to the lower alt bracket. I will post pics once it's done.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Good question. I assumed it was all rings but will ask the tech. This is just crazy! Maybe I'm on candid camera and it's all a big joke.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

I hear ya and at this point the only other option is tear down motor and have it built for street or drive it like a little ole lady. The GZ guys say that if I baffle correctly it will be minimal service. Fingers crossed. I appreciate your input and wish I had gone to a builder with some...

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Only thing I haven't tried is replacing valley pan with different type. You are the 1st to suggest it is not good one. I gave up and brought it to a Mopar builder/mechanic. He has repaired valley pan twice, pan gasket twice and main seal twice. My builder says it's broken in on the dyno so I...

    Crankcase Evac Pump

What's your leak down numbers? I've got 14% on 512ci. Only turns 6000 RPMs. My builder the famous Joe Sherman gave me a $3 breather breather and said PCV is bad idea. I've tried everything suggested accept a vacuum pump.

    Didn't work!!!!!

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Tried all sorts of combos. This pic shows the breather on drivers side only but there is a PCV to manifold on pass side

    Crankcase Evac Pump

I wonder what Joe Sherman would say to that? Calling his baby ugly. He builds them real loose to make a dyno number. Who cares if you don't make it around the block I guess. Here's an interesting post I found on speed talk. It seems he likes to build them real loose and use a pump to gain ponies.

I've been told electric won't last very long and will only pull 4inches.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Yes I'm forced to run a racing setup on what was supposed to be a street build. The area below the alternator is real tight but I think we can do it with custom everything. From what I've read a big loose engine like mine will be ok if I get the vac pump. GZ says that my cold leakdown numbers...

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Getting back to my original purpose of this post....is anyone running an evac pump on a 440 block with power steering?

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Just performed a leak down test. Maybe these numbers would be an indication as to why gaskets and seals keep blowing. Less than 100miles in this build. 3 pan gaskets. 2 main rear seals, one front seal and 2 valley pan blow outs.

Just a bit of metal debris from that oil pickup.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Oh check out the razor blade and front seal spring found in the pan. Joe Sherman needs to retire.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Take a guess. That's right an oil pickup that didn't clear the crank. Well maybe if I would have spent more than 12k I could have got the one that cleared the the crank.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

So why does this thing keep springing leaks? That's the conundrum.
  23. wazoo64

    Crankcase Evac Pump

The other thing I'm wondering .....is it better to run PCV to the air cleaner so it evacuates at high rpm when pressure is building up? If I understand correctly the pcv to manifold vacuum is doing no evacuation at high rpm

    Crankcase Evac Pump

No idea if the rings are decently sealed. The builder Joe Sherman says they are but that doesn't mean much. Brand new build that keeps blowing gaskets and seals.

    Crankcase Evac Pump

I see this one but it says not for constant use. Not sure what that means. I currently run PCV to manifold. Will I get better evac if I go to air cleaner? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=131170236156

    Crankcase Evac Pump

Anyone know of an electric system that doesn't require pulley integration? Or is there a way to set up a pulley driven pump with power steering and alternator on a 440?

to thump or not to thump?

I run the muthr thumper and it is nice cam. Full roller setup that dynoed over 550hp on my 408.

    thumper cam

Here is the link to a thread where I posted the dyno sheet. Kind of hard to read. Actually got a 580HP pull with a bigger carb also. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=38112&page=2
