    Can anyone identify this automatic shifter unit?

    I'm told this is an aftermarket AT shifter unit. It must be pulled up to move out of park. Wondering if I can somehow put a boot over it for now until I can install a 4 spd. Maybe if the unit originally came with one. Thanks for any help

    I noticed some orange paint on the ring when I dropped the 489 unit out. Any significance to that, color code or something? Just curious.
