Looking at a 1967 Barracuda notchback, and could really use some help with fender tag. Been MoPar since before my 1st car, as my dad worked for Chrysler from ‘62-‘74.
I’m confused over late ‘67 340 option vs the 273 in the Formula S cars.

I believe the 32 is a 273...The f7 is formula s. I have a 67 fastback s car commando 273. There are guys on here that will know this right off the top of their head.

Great start, I really appreciate it. I know pre-68 is incredibly confusing. My understanding is the 340 was late ‘67 year option for Formula S, and most would have been 273’s.

there are plenty of production issues that don't fit the norm. Of course, there were 340's cast in 1967 or they would have never made their early 68 delivery dates. I have one cast in 67 in my barn right now. I also have my Avatar 1965 Barracuda that was built December 31st of 1964. But it was ordered before the formula s option was offered so it is in fact a fender tag 5 car for "performance package Barracuda" rather than a 2 for formula s. I would be very surprised if every one of these anomalies was fully documented.

Welcome from a fellow Texan, show us more pictures of the Barracuda.

Pre purchase research is what I’m doing. Headed to look at it tomorrow, and the owner didn’t have details on how it transitioned from 273 to the 360 he says is in it now. Just trying to rule out if it was a 340.

Look up on the side of the block, either 340 or 360 will be a raised casting number and there is also a cast date that will tell you when it was cast.

Good luck, hopefully a close drive for you? Take lots of pics, take a 2nd set of eyes, preferably a mopar knowedgable person.
Chk frame rails close right by upper control arms. Chk under dash for wiring hackers.
Good luck!

If the engine is original to the 67 year model car, it is not a 340.
