Hi folks. I have posted a questions on this topic before but want to put it out there one more time.

I am replacing my PS gear box on my ‘71 Duster with a 360 and long tube headers. It’s been a challenge with the headers. Had to go as far as removing the motor mount bolts and jacking up the motor to get it out. Made sure my current one is centered( wheels and steering wheel pointed straight.)I do not want to install it just to find out it’s not correct.

That being said, I want to make sure I install the PS gear box correctly. I want to make sure the gear box is centered properly so the amount of turns “lock to lock” are the same. Not sure how to confirm that the gears are in the correct position. I hve a stock gear box. I have not messed with it at all so everything is in the same position as shipped. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

wind it all the way one way to the lock. then wind it all the way the other way to the lock counting the turns. then divide that in half. turn it back that many turns. there's center.

it's power steering so it should be 16:1 which would be about 3.5 turns lock to lock.

Sweet that’s what I was thinking about doing. Thank you
