Hello,
I am talking with a guy about purchasing some 14x8 steel wheels with a 4" backspace for my 1966 Dart 270. he says they worked on his A-Body with a standard width A body axle, so I am wondering if they will work on mine. I have read elsewhere that I can run a 245x60x14 tire...

So, ideas? Will this work? Is the 4" backspacing going to put the tire into the leaf spring? The leaf spring is in the stock location.

What would be a good price to pay for a set of almost new custom made steel wheels?

Thank You for your help!

They would work on a Demon or a Duster, But I would bet money they wouldnt work on a Dart or 66 and earlier Valiant, Barracuda unless you jacked up the back higher than the tires for outer fender clearance

The ideal wheel for the back of your car would have 4.5" backspacing. But I'm still not sure 8" wide would work but a 7" wide wheel would be about perfect

I run center line 15X7 Rear wheels that have 4-7/8" back space they dont hit the stock springs but are very close. They would be centered between the spring and outer fender better with a 4.5" backspace allowing me to run little wider tire on my car. I have run these same wheels on early Barracudas, Valiants and currently a 68 Dart

Thank You Z!
I really appreciate the advice. I will pass on these rims. I have a set of 245x60x14's for the back...and I am dying to see how they will look.

I am going to Fall Fling in Woodley park (So Cal.) next weekend, so I will keep my eyes open.

Again, Thank You!

i also agree that a 7 inch wide is a good choice and 4.5 backspace is do-able but you have to lift the rear to clear the inside of the outside fender.

heres a picture of my:

american racing HOPSTER
part# 550-6765
Rim Size 16x7
Offset 0
Backside 4
Bolt Pattern 5x4.5

on the front the 4 inch offset is not enough and i had to cut my fender, so be careful. if you look close at my sig picture you will see a 45* angle cut so i can turn.. plus with my ride height maxed ni the front they still rub on the fender lips and cut my tires.. which are.. 225/50R16. no idea how tall that makes them. hope this helps you out!
