For sale is my 1971 Plum Crazy Duster 340 tribute project. (or “In-Violet” if you want to be exact)
I have nearly everything for this car. It was supposed to be my dream build but it’s not going to happen and I have finally admitted it. I would love for someone to take this on and complete it.
1971 Duster originally a slant 6. Currently non-opped in California with clean title in my name.
The good:
Got full professional body work – all metal and not bondo. Painted in Plum Crazy and hood is matte black (painted after holes cut for scoops). The bodywork and paint alone was $15k, done by Buddy's Auto Body and Restoration in Novato, CA.
Rest of car is straight and rust free.
Extras that comes with the car as listed:
I have neither the health nor time to complete this project.
There is easily $15k worth of stuff above my asking price included with this car.
The 1970 340 is halfway done with rebuild and I still owe $3k on it. It is in the Can-Am Machine Shop in Rohnert Park, CA.
The ugly:
A complete moron left a piece of 1x1” box steel propped against the wall and it fell on top of the right quarter, causing the dent and paint problem as seen in the pictures. This was a heartbreaker.
---
Car is currently on 5x4 with drum brakes on all four corners, 7 ¼” open rear, and has slant six k-frame. Manual steering box needs attention but steers the car.
In the engine bay is a brand new, Doug Dutra built 225 slant six with hot cam, shaved head and oversize exhaust valves. It has Doug’s special “Dutra Duals” exhaust manifold. It has been run only to break in. Mated to 904 automatic transmission. This can come out if you don’t want it.
Also: I have a large collection of Mopar parts for A-bodies and am happy to look for what you might need IF you buy the car. I am not interested in considering any offers for any parts until the car itself is sold. If, for example, you wanted to build you own engine, I could throw in an Edelbrock 340 intake and 60779 aluminum heads for cheap.
Asking $16k or best offer. Car is in Novato, CA 94949
