I have a 1971 Plymouth Duster with a 225 Slant 6 engine 3 speed transmission. I need to replace my gas tank. My question is do I need to buy the same one with the 4 vent holes that came with the car or do I get the other option which has only one vent hole? The car did not come with the vapor cannister so I am unsure which tank I actually need.

I have the same system in my 71 Scamp and I deleted the 4 port tank in 2000. No issues.
Check your gas cap is vented properly so as not to collapse the tank from suction by the fuel pump and give you run problems ( poor fuel pressure). I would use the existing steel to hose line plumbed in your Duster to keep the system breathing to your valve cover breather.
Mymopar.com has the info you need.
I tried to send you a pic from there but it isnt clear enough.
It will give to a better idea of how the system works.
