1973 Dodge Dart Engine Swap

Hello, I have a 1973 Dart Swinger with a 318. Can I swap a 360 out of a 70s dodge motor home into the dart?

I don't know why not. Different motor mounts, oil pan, manifolds and a few odds and ends. A 360 is a 360, just a few different amenities.

Change the oil pan and pick-up to a car pan and pick-up tube, get the proper left side mount, the right side is the same.

Make sure to get an 8 1/4" or 8 3/4" axle or the 7 1/4" axle will eventually break with the 360....

Install a good double roller timing chain before installing, then go for the cam, manifold, and carb....

On the drivers side of the block the rear ear is closer to the front ear on a 318 thean it is on a 360 which means you can use 360 mts on a 318 just use some washers/spacers to take up that minor distance but the rear drivers ear on a 360 will interfere with a 318 drivers side mt so as said get a 360 DR mt & your set there (might have to purchase both as a set). Dont forget that the 360 is externally balanced & the BM 10239 (iirc) flex plate will solve that by letting you keep your current neutral balanced 318 converter. EDIT pass mt is the same
