Hello I'm about to start swapping a 440 in my 74 duster I have looked at the topic online and just wanted to ask the experts how tight of a fit is it and what all should I get I have a 8 3/4 will be getting a 727 not to sure how many different models there are and I will be changing to a manual steering box. Any help will be appreciated.

Follow the instructions on bigblockdart.com to modify your k member.
Schumacher headers fit amazingly well
If it is an AC car the blower motor will hit the valvecovers.
I used a cheap ebay oil pan.
I used a parts store radiator for a cordoba and modified the mounting.
Honestly it was easy because I followed the directions and spent the money on the headers.

i'll echo hank's sentiment: spend the money on headers.

schumacher mounts, good headers (tti, schumacher) and a good radiator-- don't be scared to modify/cut to make fit.

a borgsen box will fit if you want to keep power steering.

avoid 727's from motorhomes and big HD applications that are short tail shaft with the securing nut (non slip yoke). not that they're bad transmissions, it's that you wind up with a multi piece driveshaft that is more $$ and complicates things.

Thanks everyone. I'm not to worried about max HP it had a 318 .30 over with a ok cam so the tq alone will make a huge difference I may put some heads and a mid cam in it but I may just see how it is now it's a 440 .40 over has a Mopar HP cam 452 heads I was thinking swap to 440 source heads but I'm not to sure about there quality I'm sure they are not edlbrock but idk thanks so much for everything

honestly i'd probably trust 440 source heads over eddy heads at this point...

[either would need to see a machine shop before being put into service]

anyway, smart play. just get it in and get it going. you can always change what you don't like later.

btw, the schumacher headers are good to 500hp

Unless you have 750hp, they might choke it down to 650
