Years ago I put an a/f body 833 od in a 79 d100 that was previously 3 on the tree. Went right in, found an off the shelf driveshaft at a junkyard that fit that combo perfect. I know, shifter location was slightly different but being as how I got to cut the hole in the tunnel anyway I was able to compensate pretty easily

I know they're heavy but let me see if I can arrange for someone to pick them up. I'm in VA 20180 and very interested.

Thank you

Nick

only thing i know is that 1 trans says 76 aspen on top. if we need more pics i can get them along with any numbers needed.

Look like iron to me. Who cares?
Iron is better, anyway. Back in the day the aluminum ones were prone to wallowing out where the countershaft rides if run hard
Never dealt with one myself that had that issue (personally I've only had 2 of these tranny's over the years and they did me fine) but used to read about that all the time

I care, the aluminum case od I have has a 3.09 first and a 1.67 second which means a shift to second will drop the rpm from 6500 to 3350, below max torque, I need something that has close ratio gears
I thought all 833 od's had the same ratios.

No so sure about that
There should be a machined pad with numbers on it

I think there were 2 different gear setups on the regular 833, (non OD) but only 1 choice of gearing on the OD versions. It depends on what you're doing with it I guess. I mean how long are you in 1st or 2nd at any given time?
If you're racing I guess it would be a different story than cruising around or in a truck.
