273 w/ J Head

Can I use a 1.88" intale valved J head on a standard bore 273 w/o notching the the cylinder walls?

Never done it, but I don't think you need to notch for 1.88-1.60 valves.

I believe so, but why would you want 7 to 1 compression and no torque whatsoever?
