Having a stalling problem after the engine has shut off and cooling for a half hour to an hour. Car starts fine, idles fine and when you put it in gear, (727 with 3500 stall), especially reverse, the engine shuts down almost as if you shut the key off. The car restarts right up and once the car starts moving it works great. Warm starts are fine and cold starts are also fine. Any ideas out there? I have changed the plugs, wires, coil and distributor cap and after I did this things seemed to be better for a couple of weeks and now its doing it again. I think for some reason the car hates me because it almost always does this when there is a group of people standing around watching.
The engine has a big lumpy cam and was wondering if it is robbing most of my vacuum pressure for the vacuum advance? If so would a vac storage cannister help or are they just there for extra vacuum for the power brakes?
