A couple of months ago I got my first car, it's a 74' dart sport with a 225 /6. I really want to convert it to a 4 speed and I just need to know what all I need and how much it's going to cost me.

Difficult to answer without knowing what transmission you currently have.

With the prices of good 833's being as high as they are I am thinking you could likely convert to a t5 for about the same price. You would spend more on adapters, but less on the trans.

i have looked into it myself, the majority of /6's have a 904 behind them with a weak 3 pinion planetary gearset, the average 833 costs between 800- 1400 if your lucky, and theres a company that will make the bellhousing in indiana for another 2000. i chose to upgrade my 904 for temp. i took a 81 904 took the 4 pinion planetary gearset and a few of the stiffer internals( it was a v8 trans ) with a mopar performance rebuild kit from jegs ($250) and so far its held up really well.
