so wanted a shop truck something different ,can carry wheels or car parts without worrying about it
had to be a mopar ,wanted something different ,bought a 50 dodge pu from the widow ,she said he loved the truck called it rudy
so towed it back to the place i worked at borrowed the dealer plate drove it home...about 10 miles
found out on the way home rudy likes to cruise around 45 mph ..not what i was hoping for as a daily ...got him in the garge
drive shaft was shot ,rear was shot ,pbrake shot ....nobody has parts ...other then that very solid want to keep him stock ..6volt and all
life got in the way 13 plus years ago
so started my own biz got the shop truck craze again
was on ebay and found donald ,add read needs tune up 3500 with parts texas truck
so chat with the guy and he says with parts truck ..1600 in shipping and the story starts
idea was make him run ,mechanical safe and drive able ....get him going bad missfire clutch is shot 3 on the tree is on the floor
needs a fender (came with parts truck )brakes pull ect.
pulled the nose and the spring shakle is snapped off in the frame (parts truck has one only one)
tare off front end and my friend is telling me you need to paint everything
come to find out sweptline/utline trucks are rare ...very little repo parts that was 4 years ago

so turns out someone put a 198 in it had some weird compression reading on #3 so took the head off the parts truck to get redone
hardened valve seats ...pull off the v/c off donald and found bent push rod ,bottom end looks new
sold parts truck and bought another parts truck, good thing needed the exhaust mani ...engine is done
new king pins,bushing..front end is done ...new bushing bearings, seals rear is done
got a 64 front rad support,grill 4head light look ...
told body shop leave some dents and ware ...staying white going matte finish

sad part is i really like the paint on the sweptline parts truck in the one pic but wanted the shorty
one of the hardest finds was the left rear fender hated the look of the spare cut out
found one that looked like someone shot it 10 times with 00buck .. but had a guy take out 99% of the dents
looks great
cab only needed front floors and rockers
had it blasted found an inch of bondo in the roof ...that came out good too

had to take apart the parts door for the upper window frame ,and blasted a couple of parts ,cab getting painted tomorrow morning
the slant waiting for a home
